Ops that deploy high speed pressure on the forecheck give us big problems. Our D as a unit isn’t close to good enough on the break outs. Off the glass & out is getting stale. East West passing in the D zone doesn’t get it done on the 2 man forecheck when ops squeeezes the neutral zone. Any bobble or poor pass just gives ops transition & back into our zone for more puck possession.

They’re gonna make the pick, book it….

If we do pick a winger I take a flyer on Wood & hope he improves his skating. Danielson would be a safe C pick. RHD ASP wouldn’t be horrible & hope he has a growth spurt lol. His ceiling is high but his D isn’t close to NHL ready. He could get flipped if picked.

Makes zero sense…

https://thehockeywriters....3-draft-lafreniere-trade/

Cap space for any raise isn’t there for yet another winger on an already winger heavy roster. I get the idea he could blossom but this needs other trades of wingers out to even be realistic. His skating is my biggest concern being team speed isn’t good enough. Keeping the 11oa for cost control would be more prudent. NYR also has cap gymnastics to achieve.

Splendid.

A glowing report…

https://thehockeywriters....ort-cards-arshdeep-bains/

If he comes outta the gate at camp & the AHL flying we could have a great gamer in the making. Big bonus on an ELC that we sorely need.

Probably around the time Hoglander was sent down to Abby. Hog to me was Canucks best forward by a longshot. I think Bains will remain an AHL player with maybe a chance of getting maybe one or two games but there was nothing that set him apart from the rest of the team.

I really hope the Canucks are not looking at the farm team for players to play full time next year with the big club unless they are hoping for another bottom 10 finish.

I seen a wild proposal on Hockey Writers or somewhere that was entertaining but farfetched.

JTM to Pitts for 2023 and 2024 first round pick.

Hoglander Likkermaki Rathbone Canucks 2023 and 2024 first round pick and Pittsburgh 2023 and 2024 first round pick for Connor Bedard.

The ones that they drafted and will not be waiver exempt have to make decisions on. You see many ex Canucks in the league, they had given up on, playing in better roles.

I hearya there but Hog isn’t waiver exempt so something has to give there.

Wild is an understatement 🤪

That’s one hefty price but given where those 1st rounders would be it’s not that too crazy. We do gain a ton of cap & buys time for Myers to be deep 6ed. Other contracts as well.

Well, you’re not the sharpest knife in the drawer, which is why you’re on social assistance, so I can understand it all being lost on you.

If only lol…do any of those generate 2.5M in tickets sales overnight? No..? As you know, generational players don’t get traded unless it’s for money. See Gretzky.

I know this will not happen, but I would like to see Bedard say no thanks to Chicago for their dark past.

That would be epic! But Bettman and the NHL would blackball him. They’d make a rule up he couldn’t play anywhere else.

Lindros did it. He is not breaking any rules. Many players have said no to their draft team. He would be able to sue the NHL for discrimination if that happened.

If that were the case Adam Fox, and a few others, would’ve been “ blackballed” by the NHL, which he wasn’t. I think I read that Bedard respects the draft and he’ll go wherever he’s taken.

Everyone influentially involved in the Kyle Beach accusations are either not in Chicago anymore or they’re out of the league entirely. They should’ve lost a draft pick but it would’ve been a 2022 first round pick after they reached a settlement in the fall of 2021.

I know Canucks are out of the picture I was just piling on to the wacky talks surrounding the scenario but I do believe Laffy is definitely on Canucks radar.

A few teams that could use him are Pitts ARA BOS WPG. Canucks would have a big gapping hole that they need to fill then so I agree I think it is wishful thinking. This is where I hope Castonguay steps in and tells them about locating their available money of future years.

I like JTM but am concerned about him in a few years.

I think if Canucks traded him for a first a second and a young player or prospect and turned around and signed a guy like Barbashev I would feel better. Then they could use a first round pick to get Laffy.
