What’s the word on Simashev worth taking at 11?

I think he might be the best upside all around D in the draft. ASP and Gulyayev best offensive but not Canucks greatest need.

We know Reinbacher will be gone before 11 and maybe ASP. So go for Simashev? Or trade down for RSD Willander to add a 2nd?

Yep welcome to BC where all hard drugs are legal now. Nothing to worry about there.

- LordHumungous

That’s a naive statement to say the least. Do you actually think a war on drugs is the answer? If yes then ask yourself how much America has spent on the losing battle they cannot win. It is a staggering amount to stem the tide that keeps on rolling. Resources are better spent or even wasted on so many other things.

I’ll suggest one idea…

Nobody I know likes the carbon taxation. So I suggest a carbon tariff on all goods imported from nations that make little to no effort on reasonable pollution levels. The tariff amount has varying levels commensurate to the same or higher standards set here.

Seen this kid play a few times, not a bad defensive defenseman

Appreciate you & others posting D prospects. I’ve pretty much moved on to focus on the cap & how we can dig out of the wasted money on D. Finding that a pretty frustrating exercise in futility that only time can help.

Canuck fans can embrace futility and a scorched earth rebuild but haven’t found a way to get that through to ownership. They just need to boycott the team for a while.
- Quinn's Quest

Let’s say a rebuild we’re to happen…

Jettison all the bad contracts or costly contracts will be a heavy price. That alone will delay any rebuild for many more years. The setback will cost picks & prospects. Imo that is why a rebuild was never an option. The cap mess JB left will go down in history as the worst era the Canucks have faced.

I like the way he plays. Solid at both ends of the rink. Smart with the puck, physical. Reminds me of Brendan Morrison. What don't you like or are you just here to be condescending?
- Load Management

I don’t understand why you would infer that it’s not what I do. It was a legitimate question and your take is respected. Was not a huge fan of Morrison even though he centered the Westcoast Express. Maybe that was what it was when you made the comparison. Now I get why I was not high on this kid. But Danielson is better than what Canucks have now in the system.

The meltdown is just so satisfying. I hope Matthews leaves via free agency and they get nothing for him.
- LeftCoaster

I said it then & say it now that signing JT was poor timing & cap hamstrung the Leafs. He has never been a winner & with his huge NMC contract it set back a rebuild that was doing very good without him.

I’ve never tried them but maybe I’ll give them a shot. I like my Tour Response golf balls, they spin around the greens and you get distance off the tee. Their durability isn’t great but they have lots in the stores so I don’t care. #golfbuzz

I get my pick of a new putter as a gift. What do you suggest other than a Scotty Cameron & I don’t like a mallet. TYIA

By now everyone knows I'm a Danielson guy. Either that or RHD.
- Load Management

We need a shutdown RH 3C to fill a big hole. Is he going to be that? I think a good chance he could be & think a trade down would be best then pick him.

Convince me on Danielson I haven’t had much feedback to think positive.

As for RHD you would take ASP or Willander as Reinbacher will surely be gone, right?

- Quinn's Quest

Solid to good 200’ game. Engages & good on puck battles using speed & a digger mentality. Lower upside on offense.

I think he'll be a solid 2 guy in the future. We also need RHC. At 11 we'll have to be pretty lucky to get a franchise altering player. I'm OK with anything aside from drafting another winger or left D. I'm not passionate about the kid, just enjoy his style.
- Load Management

Gotta disagree he has top 2C upside. His playmaking would have to improve a lot but then again he wasn’t on a very good Jr team that most likely held him back. Could be a dark horse gem if that is true.

Id like a d pick and to swing for the fences, simashev as an example.

Morrison was the whipping boy. Nazzy & Bert we’re poor +/- players & he was expected to offset that. He was low hanging fruit but a C has more responsibilities to lead a line especially the top line.

Another trade down instead of a reach. He’s a rugged mean mofo that we could really use.

So Leafs are in blow it up mode, NYR trying to rid bad contracts and other teams as well like Flames. It is going to be really hard or really fun seeing teams trying to unload cap (including Canucks). Good luck getting rid of Myers.

I will say one thing about the 11 th OA. I would move it along for a further developed draft pick.

Meh, time will tell. I think his game will translate well once he has talent around him. From what I've seen, he's got all the tools.

Ha those are hilarious! Now do some (‘Milk Cartons) for the Canucks with the Cup, Fan base, maybe the word ‘relevancy’, or legit Hall of Fame players (aside from Bure & Sedin Sisters)…although you guys were privileged to be able to watch Messier play which much have been an honour as he was hands down the best player to play for that more than likely soon to be relocated franchise.
