Other than a few isolated incidents, I think he’ll be hiding out all summer to avoid being made fun of.
And fishing, of course. 🎣 - LeftCoaster

I think you’re not giving them enough credit for selecting a good roster that performed way above expectations with having a bunch of castoffs. Season one their top five scorers were Karlsson, Marchessault, Perron, Reilly Smith and Erik Haula. Plus Fleury played lights-out. Not exactly star-studded. - LeftCoaster
Plus, if other GMs didn't do side deals with them, they probably wouldn't have had as good of a team. Florida gave them Reily Smith AND Marchessault |

Halfling Marchessault ending the Oilers season with a 2nd period hat trick last night.
Copy cat league. Garland and Hoglander going to have to fight it out for the halfling roster spot next season. |

I'd keep trading down to get 5- 2nd round picks if that was the case.
His rankings have been so bad for years. 15 wrong and 1 right. - manvanfan
It seems like this is an exceptionally bad year not to have a 2nd.
Despite what management says I find it unlikely they acquire one at the draft.

Trade down possible to pick up a 2nd. Trade up with a 3rd and 4th.
If they win to win now they should probably stop adding to their problems. |

There’s isn’t really any historical data on this group, imo, to say it’s likely or unlikely. They’ve had one draft in Vancouver together.
A couple trade scenarios. Both the Sabres and Predators are right behind the Canucks in the 13 and 15 spots, they both have two second round picks. Also, if the Blackhawks are looking to make a splash you could give them the 11th OV, take their #20 and TWO second round picks, because they have four I believe. |

The probable approach will be BPA again. Stay at 11.

They have made the conference final three out of their first five years in the league. The expansion system put in place by the NHL gave them a unfair advantage. A pro league like the NHL should be able to come up with a balanced expansion system. It’s a joke. - bloatedmosquito
Yep. Guess those 800 million in expansion fees you get a few free expansion rule changes as well.

“Postmedia has confirmed Toronto billionaire Michael Andlauer, Jeffrey and Michael Kimel of the Harlo Financial Group and Los Angeles producer Neko Sparks will make non-binding bids for the #Sens before Monday deadline. Still waiting on word of the three other groups in Stage 2.”
If the Sens are worth 800 million to 1 billion ole Franky boy must be laughing all the way to the bank as the Canucks must be worth 1.3 billion. |

It was tweaked a little for Seattle and teams had a 2nd chance to make smarter decisions and the results are almost near the same. Seattle 1 game away from conference final in year 2. - manvanfan
IMO, it’s just another example of “pay to win”. Buy a franchise for billions and we’ll make sure you are instantly competitive. Where’s the “sport” in that? |

I didn't see a whole lot of people outside the NHL predicting the success that Vegas and Seattle have had. Obviously the goal was to build a fan base to help them succeed. I think when they meant "competitive" it meant more fighting for a playoff spot for a couple years not conference finals every season. |

Dallas has Hintz-Pavelski-Robertson That's 3 stars. Plus Heiskanen.
I'd say the similarities among these teams is they show up to play as a unit and throughout the line up.
Forechecking wingers are going to get overpaid this summer as well thanks to those teams. - manvanfan
It has always been about the full roster buying into 200’ hockey. It doesn’t take many players to get it off the rails. Have to work hard & skate & be accountable it’s very basic hockey. Floating around or lost out there will break down any teams success & in the lottery. Talent is wonderful but it doesn’t win on its own. Every championship team learns this. When 1/2 the teams can make the PO’s the other 1/2 can be pointed out as not playing for each other in totality & buying in 100% before looking at other reasons. To win you have to want it more & take it. |

Out of the final 5 teams who does anyone most want to see win the Stanley cup?
3 of the teams have ex Canucks defenders playing for them. - manvanfan
Seattle so we can brag our division isn’t what many perceived. 🤪 |
