Every time we play them i notice him all game long. Him or a player just like him for the bottom 6 - picklerick
Him and motte could skate under Hamilton legs and make a play.
Hopefully Drury sees what we see. Regardless of Panarin being moved or not, we’re still a contender with some tweaking. That’s the benefit of losing, you see what you need. Especially vs someone in your own division. It’s clear as day why we lost to NJ imo. We couldn’t keep up with their pace, it’s as simple as that. Made it look like we weren’t trying hard enough.
The NHL now is making the old views of being big and burly and tough, an ancient mindset. Boston is a perfect example of this. How they looked was eye popping. Florida plays a faster game then them and it looked like it. Seattle, Edmonton, NJ, even the Canes, can all fly on the ice with tempo, pace and speed. It’s a changing of the guard kind of thing happening, this year more than ever.
You could make the argument that playoff hockey and regular season hockey have kind of reversed itself. Where in the regular season you don’t have to play so fast and can win games other ways because you couldn’t possibly play like this for 82 game full season, your players wouldn’t make it past January. I mean how many playoff hits do we even see anymore like we used to? The Trouba esque hit is very difficult in the playoffs because they make you miss a helluva a lot more than say 3-4 years ago. Injuries now are mostly from pucks and blocks. Unless it’s an illegal hit, not many guys get hurt from clean body checks/hits anymore. You do damage on the forecheck hounding the puck carrier
If we could find a way to get rid of Panarin the possibilities are endless with what we could do. That 11+ million could go a long way filling out the roster. I think we’ve become top heavy with the salaries (Panarin Fox Zib) combine for over 35% of our cap.

If you do move panarin they need someone capable of 70 points on the 1st or 2nd line to replace him

I’d love to see Panarin out, Bertuzzi in. Doesn’t seem to outlandish to hope for. They almost have too much skill and not enough everything else. If they get rid of Panarin and Goodrow, that’s 15 million to play with to really fix most of everything and take another run next year, and beyond hopefully. They are not in bad shape organizationally. Just had a bad year, it happens
Laf has to step up. It’s now or never. Hes got one more contract with the NYR to show he can get it done. BUT it really hinges on more ice time, responsibility. Laf gets LW1, it’s time.

Well, IMO is without Panarin, the door is wide open for LAF to prove whether he was a worthy #1 OA pick. He will have Cuylle, who seems to be a very capable sniper and big body, and Othmann looking over his shoulder. Theres also the possibility of moving Chytil to LW.

I just see no way Panarin waives his no trade clause. Unless Drury tells him you will be a constant healthy scratch until you do lol

Idk. I think he would grant a request, mutually part ways in the right situation. It’s no doubt difficult, but I really think he’d be ok with a less pressurized situation. He would throughly enjoy Anaheim imo. You could do a lot in California with 11 million bucks lol. Would Anaheim want him tho? Is the question. To that I say yea, he could play with Fantilli and Zegras or mcTavish. They have fun players for him to play with. He really enjoys playing regular season no contact hockey he’s an infectious individual, you can tell the team loves him. We’ve just had enough of him on the ice imo and time to move on.
