Given the lack of options on the RW, I’d put Goodrow on the 3rd line RW. Trading him is a mistake IMO, one of the few guys on this team that looked like they gave a damn out there these last playoffs.

They need to find a Frederic/Kostin etc type young player for the 4th line. Someone that can play but has an edge.

I dont think Goodrow gets traded, I dont think anything particularly drastic happens. GG getting fired is pretty much it. I think we figure it out some how. \

Now... new coach, new mind, same team. Here's how I have it.

Kreider, Zib, ______
- This one is gonna be a tough one to figure out, not sure anyone we currently have really deserves to be there.

Panarin, Chytil, Kakko
- 2 points here.
1. if Chytil is part of our future, then he needs to show us he can be a 2C because he is not a 3C.
2. Some people argued that LAF was the worst player on that line and that he was holding them back. Well, nothing to hold back here, you now have one of the most skilled players on the planet.

LAF, Trochek, Goodrow
- Not sure how LAF fits in here, but Trochek and Goodrow are all effort, N/S guys. Im not sure how they can help LAF, hopefully its a cant beat em, join em kind of thing and the effort rubs off on him.

That leaves the 4th line.
- I do like Motte's hussle, but the price has to be right.
- Tomas Nosek, one of the best FO guys in the league, not very physical.
- Glendening, hes old, but one of the best FO guys in the league for a long time, physical player, will not help on the scoreboard.
- Acciari, I really wanted this guy at the deadline. Very good on FO, physical, can score goals.
- Kampf, good on FO, not very physical, a threat shorthanded.

Give me Lizotte from LAK on the 3rd/4th line. They have plenty of centers. He’s got high end speed and hustle

What do we give up though for a 25 year old, cost controlled player for 1 more year? He took 800 faceoffs last year, hes a legit center.

What we could do is put Trochek on the RW of Chytil and have him take the faceoffs. Leaving a C spot open.

Career high 34 pts so probably not as much as you think. Speaking of the Kings, is Turcotte a bust yet? He’s played 12 games and has 0 points in his career, drafted the same year as Kakko

34 points for essentially being a 3C/4C playing 12min/g

Not doing too hot in the AHL considering the hype he came with.

Nolan Patrick becomes a FA this off-season, Id throw a flier at him with a 2-way 800k contract for 2 years and stick him in the AHL to see what comes of it. Couldnt hurt.

I’m pretty sure his career is over. He missed 57 games last year and all of this year. One more concussion and he’ll never be able to get the tweety birds out of his head for the rest of his life.

I would if possible dump goodrow and sign Bertuzzi for the jam element. They need someone who can score and be a pain in the ass. Goodrow can’t score enough for the money. The argument of having a bottom 6 making 3.6? Is legit and is too rich for them in the cap world. Cuylle needs to step up into that role next year imo. He needs to be given every opportunity to do that. Goodrow could be a ripple down effect of a GG kind of guy being gone too. I love goodrows game I’m in that corner, but he just makes too much money for them to handle at the moment.

Crushing guys all over the ice isn’t winning these hockey games, it’s speed and forecheck. We need fast guys, or more of them, to get in on the forecheck. It killed us in the devils series, it was one of the more evident
/glaring problems the rangers have had in years. Like they can mask certain things during the season or playoffs, but they cannot mask the lack of speed vs faster teams.

Thats why I say stick him in the AHL, see what happens. Let him take his time to get his head on straight.

I wonder what an extension on Bertuzzi would be.

Boston is in pretty bad shape with Bergeron more than likely retired. Krejci might not be coming back either. Father time is closing in on Marchand too, his style of play could end up shortening his career. They also have no 1st or 2nd round pick this or next year.

What did he just make? I thought I saw 6.7 which is nuts and can’t go that high. BUT he’s the ideal guy I’m talking about. Checks all the boxes of speed, sandpaper and goals/production

For poops n giggles
-Trade laf saving that money..use mtl for example and pick 5. We include another piece or two, maybe Garand. Not sure about their goaltending prospects.
-Dump Goodrow, buyout or trade
-give Bertuzzi a Vinny Trocheck type contract and he’s immediately a top 6 RW, with Kakko as the other

Kreider Zib Bertuzzi
Panarin Chytil Kakko
Cuylle Trocheck Vesey
Motte xxxx xxxxx

Or Othamnn in and Cuylle starts on line 4

The future is still really bright for them, I think people have lost sight of that after the early exit. We still haven’t traded much of anything in these deals

Problem is we don’t have anywhere to start to suddenly become a “speed” team.

Kreider Zib X
Panarin Trocheck X
Laf Chytil Kakko
Vesey Goodrow

2 of our forwards have “speed”

Fox Lindgren
Trouba Miller
Schneider

None of our defenseman have “speed”

But we can’t ignore it either. Doesnt have to be 5-6 guys. Bert is fast. The problem we’re having is the two jewels we have aren’t overly fast, Laf and Kakko. All these other team’s youngsters can fly. Are we fked because of this idk, but you can still make up for it in other ways. Miller really bombed, he’s got wheels but he didn’t even show them at all, maybe two shifts I can recall where he lugged the puck up the ice.

See the speed this team has is in their skill. Unfortunately they dont use it appropriately. For a not so fast team, they try to play like one by handling the pucks too long. What they need to be doing is quick passing, quick decisions, quick shots. Thats the speed this team possesses but doesnt use enough.

Poor goaltending but even worse discipline with the puck. Bratt's a no-show. Meier is actually dead. Hughes keeps trying to beat Slavin one on one and getting his lunch stolen.
