Thats just as bad, he would still be looking over his shoulder.

But... how many coaches are there really who arent looking over their shoulder? Its in the job description.

I just feel like Messier is something fans say and there's no reality to it

I don’t agree with it, but what’s done is done. I think the guys that actually went out there and showed zero interest and hustle deserve way more blame than they’re getting. If your telling me that the coach is the reason guys looked like they completely mailed it in during the playoffs than we have the wrong group of guys trying to win a cup. We need to bring is some guys with some heart that are willing to elevate their games come playoff time, not curl up the second they cross the line because they’re afraid of contact.

Just look at his track record, its odd but on par with what transpired yesterday. I think Drury is thinking he doesnt want to waste another year of this and wants to intervene immediately.

Ok but as Jan or Larry pointed out with Mngmnt eating salary and this group looking to take the next step from underachieving.. You don't just make this move without someone specific in mind.. Do you ??

Can you go to mngmnt and say I want to clip this guy eat salary.. but uhhh I don't really know who I want next...
That doesn't have much logic to it.

I honestly just can’t get passed how you made the choice to omit vowels from management and nothing else

Like mgmt is a good shorthand that’s way shorter

I don’t care about what he did in the past, his first 2 seasons here he was the most successful regular season coach in NYR history, he did something right. It’s easy to blame the coach, but Drury has done a terrible job as GM in my opinion and deserves much more of the blame than GG.

I feel like we keep going down this path where if gallant is fired it means he was/is the only problem. Many things can be true at once

But last year he was awesome right? No matter what the outcome would have been anything short of a Cup would have been considered a terrible job by you because you didnt want Kane.

Last year the (same) power play scored and that’s probably the only meaningful difference in the playoffs. Igor played out of his mind and the pp was lethal and clutch. Gallant sucks. Doesn’t have a structure and has no ability or desire to adjust the non-existent gameplan. Next

Here are the cold hard facts.

Youre not getting rid of...
Zibanejad, Panarin, Trouba or Trochek

What do you do then? You gotta find a coach that can do more than just win regular season games. You gotta find a coach that can work with what we have.

Trouba has such a reasonable buyout though

Pretty please

Well thats the whole thing, last year, when that PP was put together its was new for us, it was a new look for the league. It was awesome. However, theres so much tape on it now, you gotta make adjustments which werent made. Then when PP1 finally seemed to be clicking, rather than roll with it like last year and just have PP1 out there the whole time... be brings in ice cold PP2 for the last 45 seconds. Turning over the puck and giving up short handed chances. Why not have different PP looks? We had so many talented players, the combinations are endless. Yet he stuck with the same look, Jersey kept us at the perimeter, shooting bad shots from distance. And Zib couldnt hit the broad side of a barn door pretty much all series.

I think if anything happens with Trouba, hes traded the following year when his contract becomes a limited NTC.

My point was we made it to ECF because we had a goalie saving our asses nightly and our pp clicked. That’s not because of GG

It’s tough for Drury because he needs results now out of fear of being axed next. The only contract above $3.6m that’s tradable or buyout-able is Trouba’s because of the buyout numbers. Running it back is really the only option without clearing cap space by getting rid of a 2nd pairing Rhd making $8m

Oh yea, I agree. We also played 2nd and 3rd string goalies on the way there.

If someone said to you Shesty had a 1.96 GAA and a .931 SV% in round 1, do you think we won the series?

I feel sorry for the guy.

I thought the Vlad/Mikkola trade was fine, obviously hated the Kane trade. But beyond that, Drury has really done a bad job thus far at asset mngmnt going back to the Buch trade and what he waited to trade a former 9th overall pick for.

After a decade of buyouts on the books finally gone, I doubt they do it with Trouba after just naming him captain last year.

You cant make a market that doesnt exist for players. The same way the Hawks had their hands tied with Kane, we had our tied with Buch and GMs knew we couldnt afford to resign him.

I said we should have traded Kravtsov 3 years ago. But again, do you think theres a market for a young player like him with the attitude he had?

I am of the unpopular opinion that its Chytil that needs to go, I think what we have in him is fools gold. Hes not good enough to play 2C and hes not the type of center I see as a 3C.

No I don’t want to trade him, he is untradable. I want to buy him out because his $8m is prohibitive and you can get a reliable replacement for half of that. He threw a helmet and throws a giant hit that isn’t but should be illegal everyone couple of games. That’s literally it.

Hope this helps
