What set this franchise back also is your top overall and 2nd overall picks not being able to
Score at this level. If they were doing what other top picks usually do rangers would be fine right now. We wouldn’t be so dependent on the top 6 to carry the load

100%. I really think that’s the crux of why he got fired (over systems, personality, etc ) the kids were awful in the series. Remarkably bad. Very frustrating

I don't have the answer. I'm not the richest organization in the sport with seemingly unlimited access and funds to make the right decision. Again, was Gallant getting fired 100% his fault? No. So me of that blame has to be put on the players. Also have realize that's it's easier to fire a coach then it is trade player x, y, or z. I don't care who they hire, just let it be the right guy please. The coaches being brought up by people is an indictment of the sport. Not the people bringing them up.

Let's role play this. Let's just say you want Sutter. Sutter has 2 championships. Has a GM and coaching experience. So he's a guy who's qualified.

Look at reports of the Flames players just had to say about him. They disliked him. That's not you fault for wanting a guy like to coach the Rangers. It's logical. But imagine Sutter coaching this team? You think that would go well?

I would put the chances higher of me getting the job over sutter. He isn’t cut out for NYC

I just don’t know if a coach can fix that. I feel like you either have the talent to be a game breaker at the nhl level or you don’t. They are fine 3rd liners but just need so much more for this franchise to reach the top

That's my point man.

Sutter, Quenneville, Babcock, Boudreau, Capuano, Brunette etc. All have issue. forget the office issues for guys like Brunnette. You remember how the Panthers looked vs Tampa last year? Tampa smoked them. So how could I be confident in a person like that? Again the options that are being discussed by this group are not the fault of you. That's just the fault of where the sport is at. Like you brought up Sacco. Ok you want Sacco, fine. When I do this it's because Sacco has a losing record in his time in the AHL and NHL. Like I'm good with no Sacco.

So we're just back to putting blind faith into the Rangers doing this right? Ok.

I don’t necessarily want Sacco, I just remember his name being hot recently (as assts go)

You don’t trust the org so you won’t be happy with whoever it is 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’ll believe they can win the cup if they hired Pocahontas because that’s in my nature to believe as a fan

The good news is that skating is perhaps the easiest skill to improve at the NHL level, which is what I believe Laf and Kakko need to improve more than anything else. The bad news is that the rangers do not have a great history of their players improving in that department, which means they need to figure something out this summer to get these guys some high end power skating coaches. Hopefully the NJ series made that abundantly clear to them

So you can the guy you thought was the next best thing in your coaching carousel because of poor management decisions? How stupid can you be?

That's also not the total fault of Gallant. Some if it is. But not all of it.

It's should be impossible to draft 7th & 21st, 9th, 2nd and 1st overall in 4 straight draft and not have top 6 player to show it. The odds have to be in the millions.

Edit: That goes back to poor development. That was an issue before Gallant and it will most likely be an issue now that he's gone.

Hypothetically, someone says Pierre Luc Dubois for Chytil and Schneider is a reasonable deal. I said that deal sucks for the Rangers. Who's right?

I mean nobody. Honestly. PLD is good because he's got effort issues. Chytil and Schneider are inconsistent. I guess the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Nobody is saying that they are going to be happy regardless of who the Rangers hire, which would be putting blind faith. We are discussing the options that are out there. Again I don't disagree with not liking the guys you mentioned.

I like Brunette a bit more than you because despite getting swept in the 2nd round by the defending back-to-back cup champions who then went on to win the east for the 3rd year in a row, his teams implement a style that is fast paced and they seem to be system oriented. He did it with Florida and now NJ just had the biggest improvement year over year in league history. Granted he isn't the head coach but he clearly has some influence because this NJ team is playing much more of a "Brunette" style than a "Ruff" style in my opinion.

Having said that, he's still not my top choice. I want someone that will be hard on the players, take away the country club attitude that seems to permeate the locker room, and implement a system so that when our top guys don't have it a certain night, they can still compete. I don't believe that letting your top guys do whatever they want leads to consistency which is why we saw 3 games vs NJ where we scored 5 goals each and we combined for 2 goals in the other 4 games

Brunette got drunk in public once so he’s out

That’s my asst pick. Specifically because he works for the devils. Idc about his past or his alcohol intake. I want someone who has an idea of what the devils do to be successful

I literally just told you why I didn't want him, discounting the arrest. Again, the NHL doesn't give a poop if people have character issues. You can kill somebody and be allowed to comeback.

Remember the Rangers were lucky to secure those picks, we could have picked worse and really bombed them as we have done most of the time!!!

The team he works for just slammed us for 4 games (the losses), it would be like hiring an insider. Why is that a bad thing? It’s because you’re Tom and you aren’t capable of anything but misery

I’m not fighting with you over this lol I just want you to have a plan instead of willy nilly hating every candidate after getting rid of the guy you hated

So he's smart enough to learn in hockey, but not smart to avoid drunk driving. That's my coach.
