Funniest option is Chris drury
- picklerick

I'd could kill 2 birds with one stone in my disdain for him.

One other name who i think will be an under the radar hire is Jay Leach. Love what he is doing in Seattle as an assistant coach.

Only if he changes the spelling of his last name

Wasn’t Pandolfo or Joe Sacco the hot name a couple years ago?

I think the coach is secondary to adding some speedy players. We could get Scotty Bowman in the redwings heyday but it won’t matter much if we’re too slow
- Slimtj100

Eh, I don't know. I think that with a X's and O's coach that speedier teams could be more consistently neutralized and/or limited. Gallant just doesn't coach that way so there was no structure or system to fall back on.

considering how great Boston's season was Sacco should be a very hot candidate

I don't know if them losing in first round hurts him very much

Sheldon Keefe could get canned too. A sweep would damper the first rd win they all went gaga over

Look at Joe Sacco's AHL and NHL coaching record. Thank you.

Who do you want? Just answer the question 😞 you can’t want someone fired and it happens and have no answer.

until they actually hire a coach, this blog is going to be nothing but some of us bringing up possible candidates that will likely be under consideration vs some of us who only think about how they personally feel about the candidates

I watched Jay Leach choke a kid I played hockey with in high school when Jay played at Providence College and we were there for hockey camp in the summer. Not vilifying him for it, it was funny and probably deserved and wasn't vicious at all. Just a good Jay Leach story

My criteria of questions is to the candidates…how do you plan on beating Nj. That’s the only question that needs to be asked by Drury

He'll fit perfectly in the NHL culture. (But really how good/smart can he be? Man got divorced from Kathryn Tappin)

It really wasn't bad. It was like half a second. Didn't know he was married to her. Good for him.

I can't say that I don't care, but I totally agree that this team is not built for the playoffs. But built right or not, the coach and the players share the responsibility for being ready to play and also in making adjustments.
For a coach to say he leaves the pep talk sort of stuff to the leadership group is ridiculous. At the end of the day the coach is responsible for winning games. That is their sole mandate. If your players aren't getting themselves properly prepared then you damn well step in and do your best to get them there!!
Thar alone is reason to move on from Gallant in my books. Add in that his only answer to opponents adjustments is to shuffle the lines and good riddance.
There's only so many ways to be successful in this game. Shame on all of them for making us believe and then not having the fortitude to make a decent attempt at achieving the goal.
That is where this team took me to this season.

Pretty much spot on Tony. I put in more effort cooking my dinner for that game 7.

That was probably true for most of game 4 and all of game 5 too.

He doesn't want to say who he wants because on the off chance that they hire that person then he can't say it was a horrible hire and the Rangers organization blew it again

Tom, I'm with you on a lot of things but this is a frustrating game you play

I think of how Gallant coached an expansion team to the finals, but he seemed to not connect quite as well with the Rangers. It's not good if it's the captain or the goalie telling the team to wake the f*ck up. That's on the coach to get the team rolling, whether by motivation or tactics/strategy.

I would hope the front office looks beyond the usual recycled names. Bruce! Torts! Lavy! AV! Q! Babcock! Julien! I'd like to think the coaching talent pool is bigger than that.
