Yeah, I am not saying Laf is a bust, but he is not what the Habs need.... likely another 3rd liner.

CC - Suzuki - Dach
Slaf - Dubois - Anderson

I can live with that, if they do not throw the farm to get PLD.

- Mashadar

there's absolutely no certainty about Slaf becoming better than Lafrenière though.
or vice versa.

he is 21 with 3 full seasons in the nhl already. he doesn't skate very well and that will keep him from ever being what you want the 1OA to become. honestly, the guy you take at 17, for example, will most likely have the same career as Laf.
- Gramps28

maybe you're 100% right, we'll see. I wouldn't sell the farm for Lafrenière but if the rags are selling low it could be interesting.

i am so ready for the football season to start. while i don't think the bears are going to in the hunt for a playoff spot, they have a bunch of young guys(all code) it will be fun to watch develop.

ii sure the (frank) hope fields in one of them. i am not sure how much longer i can take this black hole at QB for the bears,

you don't pick a guy first overall to have him play on a third line, that's a bust lol.
- Pat1993

You called him a bust.

Not me.

Again, I do not see him being the star player everyone thought he would be, but that does not make him a bust.

If they had a draft now, I do not think he would be a top 5 pick.

for some reason i feel like he's not the answer but i hope i'm wrong. but the bears are definitely turning poop around so it should be fun to watch over the next few seasons.

really? what's a bust then, picking a guy 1st overall and he never plays in the NHL? I don't get it but it's all good.

Fair.

But 30 some odd games playing a different style of hockey in a different size of ice surface is hardly a reason to call him a bust, over a guy who has been playing 3 years and shown marginal improvement.

If he is a 40-45 point 3rd line player for 10 years, you consider that a bust?

Fine.

Listen, I don't care where a player was drafted - to begin with, not all #1 picks are equal given that talent pool in any given draft - what I care about is performance on the ice.

I would not trade a 2nd for him, at this point, I'd rather roll the dice and let HuGo do their job at the draft table.

i know we've both watched him and been high on him and low on him at different times. i kind of wish he'd either get consistently good or consistently not so good so they can make a decision on if he's their guy or not.

i also have this idea in my head that the bears should have a big, sturdy pocket passer for some reason.

well if not I'm just not sure what a true "bust" is, agree to disagree on the semantics lol.

and yeah, agreed on letting Hughes and his team making the right decisions, it'll surely be better than any of us fools babbling about whatever in here.

at this point i don't care if the guy is a 3 peckered left handed martian with an overbite as long as he is good.
