I was working on a post about sens goalie options but can't get a hold of anyone from HB.

But, basically, to not impede Soogard and the Finnish kid, we are looking for a goalie with 2 yrs or less on a contract, to either sign or trade for.

UFAs outside of the bigger names...I like Stolarz and Hill and Blackwood. I like no UFA G over age of 35. And a lot of ufa goalies gonna sign with old teams IMO.

RfAs..I like Swayman but I think Boston resigns. And other big names go back to their present teams.

Goalies to trade for...I like Demko. More realistic option is Dan Vladar from Calgary. I'm okay with spending to get Helly but not trading much away since he will head to US in FA year.

There a bunch of high risk, high reward goalies out there that only make sense if we can get them cheap (ie Hart or Knight) or get paid to take them (Peterson).

But a lot of teams looking for goalies this summer , either as starters or quality backups..

Hart for a 3rd...sure.

What kind of player does Smejkal project to be?

Is he being brought in to help out the depth / bottom 6 ?

Realistically they should just run with who they have in net. I'd replace Forsberg before I pushed Sogard back to the AHL. One of the best young goalies currently outside the NHL is Leevi Merilainen, who is already in the system.

Russia is clearly churning out the best netminders in this era - I'd look to the KHL to find somebody, if anywhere - they have a ton of undrafted, young, good sized goaltenders playing big games. Demchenko, Isaev, or Dorozhko are all intriguing adds, all .925+, under 2.2 GAA, played significant games, and can be had for sub 1M provided they are willing and able to leave Russia. Dorozhko in particular, 6'3, 24yo, .941 1.88 in 40 games on a low profile non playoff team. Sign me up.

I've said it repeatedly.
Closest thing to Orr, since Orr.
We were lucky to get to watch him here for the years we did.

Very true about being lucky to see him. Wish we had Karlsson in his prime with this core coming through. Stutzle, Tkachuk, Norris, Sanderson would be an amazing PP with him at the point.

With that said, I think Ottawa got his best years and IF he didn't go, then Stutzle doesn't become a Senator.

Ottawa is a good position to do something really special. but they still have some significant work to do. I'm not the coach is the right one for this group moving forward; especially with guys like Gallant, Laviolette, Sutter, Brunette, etc out there. I hope Dorion can ship out DeBrincat, Joseph (maybe Boucher or picks) to get at legit top 6 LW and bring in a goalie as well.

I'd be okay but I think CAR resigns him at team friendly deal. He would want too much money and term if they win the cup too.

Sens should draft a bunch of Russian goalies, especially with late round pics. Just a bunch....one will pan out. They won't be able to come over for three years anyways, and that is usually the amount of time it takes for them to develop. And you are right.....Russians have 3 starting goalies for the Olympics/World Cup (Sorokin, Vasi, Shats) while the Canadians have....Carter Hart?

We'd get to see Russian goalies more if the country would stop invading people...
