Fitzgerald has a slew of RFA's and UFA's to work through, too. As it stands, they have about $35 mill of cap space to spend on 11 spots for next year. We'll see what Meier's next deal is worth. And how many prospects are ready to make the jump next season.

Back to Meier, I am guessing they give him a max deal for about $8-9 mill per. Power forwards who score 40 goals don't grow on trees, and they are just about at the window, if not already. And the cost is a late first, plus a second that could become a first if they make the conference finals? This is the time. What was probably not the time was when Ottawa gave up the early first for Debrincat. Or Montreal gambling on Dach.

I know that the NHL projections have generally been wrong, but the cap is supposed to go up significantly starting after next year, which GM's I am sure are factoring into the equation also.

Dots, some players have speed/skating, size, skill, grit/compete, can and have scored over 30 goals 3 times at 26 yrs old and a rare handful have all of those skills and even more rare is they become available when they are 26 yrs old. That's Timo Meir.

NJ put up the 3rd most pts in the league, were on the smallish side at forward and Meir becomes available and isn't going to be a rental and you want them to pass on this rare power player? A team obviously ready to win now and for the next 5-6 yrs?

I know you ain't diggin Meir and that's fine. You're free to have any opinion and free to excercise your right to be wrong too. Meir is a perfect fit for NJ.

Hahaha, i think I'll sit back on this one and let nature take its course. Its not Meier i think he's a fine player its the timing. That's all I'm saying, it definitely isn't the worst trade I've ever seen, i think the Seth Jones trade by SB has to be.

It seems these players a becoming available more and more.

We all should watch the Playoffs as a showcase to drafting early
Florida surprise victor?

2013 Barkov
2014 Eckblad (1)
2014 Sam Reinhardt (2)
2014 Sam Bennett (4)

Let's just imagine it is the Blackhawk future playoff in 2033, and you would have to have our 2022's and 2023's as our eventual formation.

I could used so many different teams / players but the early drafting factor won't disappear...you have to get who the scouts/teamsproejct as studs.

But 2 of the 4 were acquired in trade, Florida did not draft Reinhardt and Bennett, they for some reason did not work out in Buffalo nor Calgary.

Surely the draft lottery will be on a few major networks and more The SCORE app, ESPN coverage + hockey games, TSN.CA/NHL should cover it on free app although u can upgrade app cheaply on month or annual basis. Probably 7pm anyone know for sure is it 7pm CST

7pm Central on ESPN in the USA and Sportsnet in Canada.

Q would do great with Fox, Miller, and Lindgren on the backend. Maybe he’d give Kakko and Lafreniere some PP1 time to get them to their potential. Both certainly have higher expectations than what Krieder and Zibanejad have peaked at. As good as the latter have become, they’re both on the wrong side of 30 and this franchise needs the former to take the lead to hit the next level.

Don't forget about Jesper, almost a point per game player, 6-7 million per? So that's 15 to 16 million tied up, as i said before $50 mill tied up in 7 players. Sorry 8 at about 55 million. I would love to see some of the credit ratings or Financials on some of these GMs.

Can't be, Penguins are too smart for that.

From Stan's POV, that's not the best place to be, given the age of their best players and lack of prospects. Maybe Stan gets a shot at proving he can be Stan The Builder?!?!

It is very easy for anyone to imagine where coach Q and Bowman could land. Their name has been smudged at minimum and that doesn’t change with the passage of time. How this could be put to rest if they were hired, is interesting to figure out and I will not speculate too deep how this former Blackhawk duo as well as any potential new employer steers through or around past transgressions. Initial thoughts follow andI am sure the board could expound furthermore

There is an NHL landscape with teams needing to either reboot, disarm and rebuild or at minimum change some pieces in front office and on the ice

So if Q to NYR and Bowman in Pittsburgh what on ice changes and what expectation for better results to hypothesize?

Pittsburgh must make some big changes but perhaps the timing is not to complete such drastic changes in one fell summer swoop. As far as Kane, what contract and what team he plays for is difficult to ascertain. He is going to miss half or more a season. Perhaps an incentive laden second season in two year deal is consummated with the NYR?

The NYR and Pittsburgh Penguins need to figure out their next steps; the former to compete well against Improving New Jersey and probably Buffalo too The later team [Penguins] how to make playoffs or start a rebuild. We are hard pressed to guess what course those teams take at minimum the exact details of it all. As for Kane, Q and Bowman guessing right now is fruitless….just wait and see.

Eklund will pony up what he has heard because he has blogs to keep hockeybuzz afloat financially. Whether you think Eklund
is a fair source of information or as creditable as blaring headlines in The National Enquirer.

As Wiz mentioned earlier, Detroit is looking for a RD. I still think KD wants another 1st in the draft. Wonder if Murphy to the Wings for their 17th OA is a viable option? Maybe the Hawks have to add?

You can find a Murphy type defenseman (or above) as a UFA, no need to trade:
Dumba
Severson
Holl
Mayfield

etc./ etc.

True.

But the 10-sample sizes have been not matching quite a bit recently. Don't want to spin it 10,000 times.

I will be hosting a party at Gibson’s Italia for the entire board if Murphy gets traded for a 1st round pick. He can take his leadership qualities and contract certainty with him.

Except these guys may require more term and more money.

Murphy has only 3 more years at $4.4 million, or as little as $2.2 million. Plus, Murphy is better than those 4.

I don't think Kane sticks with the Rangers. They need to get faster. Give New Jersey their props. They are a very young team and they were down two zip to a veteran team. I would love to see New Jersey and Seattle in the finals but I am not sure Seattle has the where with all just yet. Go Panthers, three more gets us the 19th pick.
