with the 5th pick the Hawks will take Leonard. He is the guy who drove that line with Smith and Perrault.

True, to me bigger deal considering he's a green dman.

True but he might bring something NJ needs from the first two games. A D-man who can move the puck. The Canes are all over the Devils' D-men. Its not a very mobile group. Can't blame Ruff for trying to see if Hughes can help break some of the forecheck pressure from the Canes.

A lot to ask for sure but I think he has to try something. Plus, maybe Graves is dinged up after last night.

Luke Hughes straight from the frozen four to the NHL playoffs, damn
- BetweenTheDots

I was thinking since they were unable to beat the quickness of Florida that the gamble of having #43 Hughes play (and be the defensive liability he currently is) cannot hurt to have more speed and a "defender" who prefers to be in the attack zone lurking with a big shot and forget the negatives. .and it might get his "big brother" back in on track.

The 3rd Hughes kid is amazing offensively, a hound and more interested on the attack than ever playing dee, but that big Kevin Bahl might fill lots of ice, but not just cover it...play him too. LOL. That's tomorrow right? Tonight is the Oil comeback party?

Boy, I like our chances to draft 19 with two wins under the FLA belt.

Its neat how a team like Florida barely makes the playoffs but is designed to play great in the playoffs. It's like watching the Habs during the covid year with LR on their staff.

He really does wear out his welcome

I really hope LR is seen as Brindamour instead of a Gallant or Torts

A lot here, Wiz. But at 21 with 3 yrs and 140 AHL games, good fancies in his 16 games with the Hawks, the size/skating to play NHL I think it's time to bring Phillips up.

Miller had a fine playoffs last yr and not so good, along with Fox, and most all the NYR had a bad playoffs v NJ. Miller is a huge mobile 23 yr old with 200 NHL games. He'll be fine.

I thought the Hawks reached on Allen but I'm ok with it and am a fan. Nice simple game, good skater, good size, accepts his shutdown role and has some nasty in his game...... Look forward to seeing him in RKF next yr.

It is great to see discussions on the board especially since I do not have the same greater amount of watching and input on a player’s progression. I accept the input from wiz, Mr Richchet and others who have watched and followed their improvement or progression in the various aspects of their performance.

What I am watching for is a possible sleeper in Crevier. He played in most of the Rockford games and received positive commentary from their coaching staff. Crevier style is to be a shut down dmen with some degree of physicality. For a tall big guy he skates well. His need is to add strength and keep progressing. Due to his being very tall, he has a long reach which can help his defensive coverage

Remember it being shorter than I thought was normal, maybe 3 years?

But maybe that was mutual. If they perform like last year, I'd give him an extension, just like a player, I wouldn't want him in a FA situation if you want to retain him.

LR doesn't seem to be the overly emotional type. Seems more like a guy who will pull a player aside and point out the things he wants them to do or improve on

Designed? IDK. The got healthy in the 2nd half and are hot at the right time. duclair hasn't done much in the playoffs to date, but what he does do is allow Tkachuk to play on their 3rd line to give them 3 decent lines. Also, the Lundell line is just out there wrecking havoc on every line they are matched against. Barkov is getting the tough match-ups. They are getting Tkachuk against bottom pairings for the most part.

They are winning and Ekblad has been meh so far. Forsling and Montour have been their best D-men.

Yeah, thought that might be the case for him. He left the came for a bit and returned but he didn't look right when he did.

Has Q served enough penance?

Does Babcock want to come back to the NHL and coach?

The better question is does anyone in the NHL want Babcock as their coach.

Also, I think he is still being paid by the Leafs.

According to some Q was the guy who killed Cock Robin.

3 more years i think. Like his system, like his demeanor, i agree with Elbows pull a guy to the side to get his point across.

Edmonton might be the favorite to beat the Vegas hockey team. I cannot imagine they would beat Dallas. And if somehow they get to the Cup final, they probably loose against ? Florida/Carolina?

I would rather the Hawks have a potential cap problem next year and be a Stanley Cup contender than where they are now. But that is just me.
