He doesn't skate anywhere near as well as TT. Difference is TT was always good defensively.
- Elbows15

I don't know about the skating, but true about the defense. That trade confused me

So is Bobrovsky’s contract still considered a bad one?

I hope they just leave Korchinski in junior. He has lots to learn and needs to get stronger. Other than a reward for a strong camp there’s no other reason for him not to spend the season in junior. Improve his weaknesses, strengthen his strengths and be an important player in the WJC for Canada.
- paulr

He won't be 19 until August. The notion he has nothing to learn is juniors is crazy to me. If nothing else, physically maturing another year is enough. 19 year old D-men don't fare well in the NHL unless its a player with special talent. Korchinski is not a special talent.

You never hear people saying a player was ruined by spending an extra year in juniors.

TT is a plus skater. Laf is average at best and I would sat he is a bit below average skater

So does Stramel. And the Hawks need all the forwards they can get.

Unless Nylander puts his big boy pants on they will be golfing soon. It's like watching Kucherov pre 2020, so much talent but not willing to go to the dirty areas

They won't have anyone wearing a C for a couple of seasons.

Next C will probably be Will Smith

Honestly, I've never seen Stramel, so I really can't comment.

I get the Russian issue, but is there an issue getting Finns over to the US to play in the NHL???

Would have to agree although I don't mind him getting 9 games so he can see what the league is like.

Not sure if this makes sense but in my small sample size of seeing this year's games, Korchinski is a "north-south" guy - he moves forward fast, has good agility, carries well, and looks for the offensive chance. His "east-west" game is not as good, he can be beaten around the edge, and is not so good on the boards yet.

Conversely, Allan is an "east-west" guy, good positional defense, uses the boards well, rubs guys out along the boards, stops plays in the defensive zone. Looking a little better (but just not the same as Korchinski) advancing the puck. At Rockford he will probably emphasize defense, which is his strong suit, and his offense might suffer some. Probably not in Chicago until 24-25 except for maybe an injury call-up.

No but the Hawks don't draft Finns well either.

If Allen is pressured or tries to be fancy with pick movement then he will make egregious errors and all the good defensively bid mitigated by a mistake which led a goal and maybe a victory. He will wind up staying most or all of a second season in the AHL IMHO. KD will not rush him I could even imagine Crrvier develops nicely and gets a look.and or DrlMarstro gets a look before Allen

Can't be close minded like that, got to take the player you think will develop to be the best player on the ice.

...and if so, how come Simon Nemec (3rd overall before Shane Wright!) and David Jiricek go off the board at slot #2 & #6?

- wiz1901

a)Because he was a Russian and small
b)Point had various in juries and simply wasn't a great prospect and became one.
c) Cam Barker gola and assist totals were viewed as the entire story, when there things missing from the package.
d) Yakupov was allowed to ply on a dec3ent line w/o little backcheckor feet, just hands and the lottery winners GM and most everyone didn't see past the hype.

- wiz1901

Could Korchinski be another Barker ? Big stats line .Only seen him play few times at the WJC .Did not think that much of him .

Not a fan of Allan at all. His feet are sluggish to me. Allan is prolly the 5th or 6th best LHD prospect in my world. He is behind Korchinski, Kaiser, Del Mastro, Phillips and Vlasic to me.

It’s interesting to look back at the rankings for the 2023 draft. The Hockey News had the top 10 as follows in their 2022 draft edition.

Hawks haven't done very well drafting Euros since Hjalmarsson. Unless they junior Euro scouts have been changed, give me the NA boys.

It’s no wonder Ritchie’s stock is dropping like a stone. He is so inconsistent.
