Half way to #19 - vabeachbear
I think KD will play it safe with the 4th overall pick and avoid Michkov. If Carlsson is available they’re draft him, if not then they’ll take Smith or Benson.
On the flip side, I think they’ll take a chance with their 2nd first round pick. If a top prospect slips I could see KD snagging him up. |

Hawks haven't done very well drafting Euros since Hjalmarsson. Unless they junior Euro scouts have been changed, give me the NA boys. - Elbows15

Could Korchinski be another Barker ? Big stats line .Only seen him play few times at the WJC .Did not think that much of him . - oldduffman
Don't think he will bust but might need a stay at home D partner. His offense seems sure to be an asset. He seems talented so if he is given stuff to work on, he should improve.

It’s interesting to look back at the rankings for the 2023 draft. The Hockey News had the top 10 as follows in their 2022 draft edition.
Bedard
Fantilli
Michkov
Dvorsky
Yager
Ritchie
Stramel
Carlsson
Musty
Barlow - DarthKane
Yager seems to be falling fast and Stramel just did not have a good season at Wisconsin. Still has a lot to like. |

Not a fan of Allan at all. His feet are sluggish to me. Allan is prolly the 5th or 6th best LHD prospect in my world. He is behind Korchinski, Kaiser, Del Mastro, Phillips and Vlasic to me. - Elbows15
Looks pretty decent in the WHL but definitely not ready right now. Curious to see how he does in the AHL. Still young, going to take some time for sure.

Reichel doesn't look bad - BetweenTheDots
Jury is still out on him and his HC had some not so good things to say about him during the playoffs.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if KD moved him. |

Can't be close minded like that, got to take the player you think will develop to be the best player on the ice. - BetweenTheDots
I don't like to look a nationality much ,but it is in the equation . If we are picking 3rd I be happy with the Russian Kid .The more I think about it he fits our timetable very nicely, along has he comes over that is . Or we could go off the board a bit and Snag Benson, love the drive of them Canadian kids for a Cup run.!! |

There are lot of good Euros in the league and I would be happy with quite a few on the Hawks. My point is the Hawks just don't seem to draft them well for the most part. |

Sounds like he tried to play through an injury

The more i think about this i know you are obsessed about forwards being able to skate, so i thought of O'Reilly and if Alexis was a regular on the power play his stats would be very similar to O'Reilly, if you compare their 3rd season played. |

Out of how many? And the last Russian they drafted worth a damn was Kravchuk.
Another guy they traded, too |

Are you not paying attention to what KD is trying to build and the type of players he is drafting?

I disagree, there is only so much talent in the world, you can't limit your prospect pool, then you lose before you even begin

I hope your correct .I would leave him in Jr. next year let him have a another WJC run .No need to rush any of these kids . |

Weren’t you the one who was pleading that the Hawks trade up to get Askarov? |

Sure do, but let's not pretend that he doesn't add value to hockey teams, no fault of his own 3rd line player who puts up 40 points with 2 other young players on his line.
And how many more scores does he contribute to because he parks his arse in front of the net. |

what are you disagreeing with? I didn't say there aren't vg Euro players or prospects. I said the Hawks don't seem to draft them well. |

He is on the third line for a reason. BTW, he played most of the season on the 2nd line and 40 points for a guy taken #1OA? |

I'm taking that as the Blackhawks shouldn't draft them at all because they were wrong before
