You were the ring leader who ripped on me for years for not liking the Panarin signing, you made him out to be the second coming of Christ. At this point you were dead wrong.
- Brukie

Panarin is a great regular season player. Just not a 16 game player. Nobody knew that prior. In the grand scheme of things tho the singing won’t go down as a failure but a major let down

He was more than fine last year. Also was good in Columbus. Idk what happened these 7 games. Entire team really should get a ton of flack outside Shesterkin.
- tomburton99

He was okay last year and yes, he was good in Coumbus. But he just seemed very invisible for the most part these past 2 postseasons.

Thanks for another season of great coverage, Jan. I wish the team could emulate your work ethic and passion for the game and franchise.
I am completely hollow today. I entered yesterday lacking any real faith the team I pour my passion and time into would represent themselves the way they needed to. From there, received the news that my mother has inoperable cancer, which lead to losing my mind on the internet for all to see. Then cap it off with a performance to drive home just how truly inconsequential cheering for this team is. So many better things I can spend my time and energy on. So, I think I will.
Best of luck to you all.

- Tonybere

Never been a Rangers fan. I’m a Flyer fan. So I know all about futility, and a dysfunctional front office. My point is, I have always read Jan’s column for his expert takes. Between he and Bill Meltzer, they are the two best on this site!
His comment of, skill can’t beat will if the skill has no will, is literary gold!
Rangers just didn’t have the will last night. I expected a 5-4 OT win for the blueshirts. Totally shocked watching. I kept waiting for NY to flip a switch they just didn’t have.
As for Tonybere, prayers to your mother my friend. Hopefully, a miracle comes to your house for mom.

With busts like Kakko, Laf, Andersson, Kravstov, all top 10 picks we need to clean house, can’t believe we went through all those bad years to draft absolute bums
- KreiderBomb

I mean those two are also why you have remember Gorton correctly. He made the hard moves in starting the rebuild. But his scouting staff was more bad than good. But that's been the Rangers way for like 35 years.

You can’t tell me that’s not an organizational thing vs we just happened to draft 4 absolute bums. The organization failed to develop them properly, I refuse to believe all 4 are actually as bad as they’ve been.

Today is such a strange time for rangers. It was so easy back in 2018 when they had the ability to sell off and rebuild. They can’t now. And they are waking up realizing this core they put together isn’t good enough. Never a place you want to be

That's where they have lived for years. 2010-13, 2014-17, and now. I hate them.

It’s entirely possibly that some of our NMC players ask for trades. Chemistry on this team doesn’t seem as great as it was in prior years or compared to a team like the Devils. Who knows what went on behind closed doors, not a stretch to assume some toxicity there.

Doubt that. NYR is a highly desirable organization and once a player waives their NMC they lose it permanently. Even when players do waive, the returns are usually poor for obvious reasons. Rangers will be contenders next season too.

I highly doubt it. Those contracts, even if the NMC's are waived will be hard to move with the limited Cap space most playoff teams have. Nobody will waive those NMC's to go to a non contender who has the available Cap space.

The only option I see is to replace GG and hope the next coach can get more out of these players. To do another season with GG would be the very definition of insanity. The playoff run to the ECF was just a series of lucky breaks we had.

Side note I found funny... Hughes channeling his inner Sydney Crosby ala 2010 complaining to the refs. You're a really good player stop the bellyaching

I think this is the conventional wisdom, but I'd like to look deeper at the numbers.

My hypothesis would be that having small market teams/non-conventional hockey markets that play entertaining hockey would be good for TV ratings. Larger and more conventional markets are going to have good ratings. Pittsburgh isnt a big town, but it has good ratings regardless of whether the Penguins are in it. I'd imagine larger hockey markets like Minnesota, New York, Boston, etc. would still have good ratings while the Florida/Carolinas of the world have enhanced ratings due to their teams being in it.

Could be dead wrong.
