Yeah - things were rushed which seemed ok at the time. Who doesn't love a trip to the ECF? This team needs work though, and now have little flexability to make it work. We'll be sending Shesterkin's number to the rafters with no cups at this rate.

When was the last NYR drafted player that actually performed within 3 years? Kovalev? Those kids should be driving play - look at Hishier and Hughes. That kid line needs development that we obviously can't give. They just suck. Lifeless.

You sure? Thats if he doesnt request a trade.

Let's be realistic here, laf and kakko lack the hands and skating ability. They are subpar skaters. I have a little more hope for kakko given his improvements along the boards and holding onto the puck , possibly developing into a nice powerforward if the right coaching staff Is in place.

this is my biggest concern right now for sure

Also another issue is Trocheck. Has 6 years left and he had zero chemistry with anyone this season. How do they fix that and make him work

He is a UFA in 3 years. I think he just walks. If next year doesn’t get better for the rangers they really need to consider moving him for a haul

You must love being shame kinked.

1 goal when we were already up 3-1 made the difference? 5v5 he’s terrible, added some pp pts, he sucks otherwise. Amazing how many ppl on here are saying he stunk and yet u only want to argue with me. He wasn’t good, he sucks. Period.

Oh yeah, but we'd still have question if he was GM. Laf, Kakko Miller and Schneider for example. So we shouldn't just see Groton through rose colored glasses. But you're right in the sentiment he was going to stick with his plan.
- tomburton99

That's a fair assessment. It just sucks we got the 1st overall pick and 2nd overall when we did. Why does it never happen when there is generational talent?

Put him on the 3rd line with guys that hit/agitate and make it a physical line that can score.

So you conveniently ignore the points. That was cute, almost.

Edit: And if he sucked, fine, but then you better bring that same energy to rest of the rsoter. But you don't. I see it.

Honestly, he should be our 3C with Kakko and not sure who the LW is. Its hard to be out on LAF but with Othmann and Cuylle waiting in the wings its tough to keep being optimistic. LAF may need to go back to RW with Zib and Kreider.

When did I say other players were good? Kane ruined the teams chemistry, idc what u say. He wasn’t the right fit for this team.

To just jump in here quickly, if the Devils were truly the better team, which you would have to say they were, to me, that's on Drury (who I've been basically happy with until now). I thought it was the Devils who weren't supposed to be "built for the playoffs." We'll obviously see what happens with them going forward, but it sure looks to me like speed is an undervalued trait, and something the Rangers will have to try to emulate going forward if they have any chance to compete.

Oh, and to help get that faster roster, I'm perfectly willing to part with both Lafreniere and Kakko. I'm pretty much ready to call them both busts. Look no further than Jack Hughes to see what a true rising star looks like. The question is how much value they even have at this point. But could you imagine how strong this Rangers team would have been had they lived up to the hype -- if they were close to the level of Hughes? They were supposed to put the rebuilt into overdrive but instead they seemed to have dragged it down.

I guess that's enough for now. Pretty disgusted today, probably like most of you.

Laf is the worse 1 OA since Yakupov and Kakko isn’t far behind as the 2 OA the past 10 years or so. He’s better than Patrick and maybe Byfield, but not by much.

it's just different though because Lafreniere tries really hard and will be a serviceable player until his mid 30's in this league, it just would have been better if he was a 2nd round pick as opposed to a first overall pick

Yakupov didnt try and didnt care and had a horrible attitude

I was talking purely on skill. I think Laf tries, I just don’t think he’s good.

would've been better if we just never signed panarin so kakko/laf could've been thrown into the top 6 right away. i'm still convinced this team developed them like poop because they were forced to play on the 3rd line with no pp time. so frustrated with everything rangers right now

Same here, I think I was hopeful they'd eventually figure it out since they were high picks. They are deficient in too many areas though and were highly ranked due to coming up in weak top 10 classes. I think maybe they are more 20goal 45-55point type of players. Time will tell. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them.is moved though

lafreniere can be a guy that contributes to this team if people can get over the fact that he was a first overall pick

if people can't get over that, then they should probably deal him while he still has some value

Because the Rangers have only one strength. Draft goalies. Other than that, fart noises.
