Happy to see Drury made the right move. Very easy to point to his record and say he deserves another season but the eye test showed different. I’m sticking with Knoblauch also. Was an assistant coach in Philly for a few years after a really successful OHL run, so he seems ready for an opportunity. Drury obviously knows him well so I’m sure he’ll get a good look. No more recycled coaches please, especially not Q or Sutter.

“Knoblauch’s 2016-17 Erie club won the OHL championship and advanced all the way to the final of the Memorial Cup, and both that team and the previous year’s Otter squad won the Hamilton Spectator Trophy for compiling the best regular-season record in the OHL. Knoblauch was named OHL Coach of the Year in 2015-16, and also guided Erie to the OHL final in 2014-15. He finished his Erie tenure with an overall record of 216-79-9-5 (.722) in 309 games.

During his time coaching the Otters and Ice, Knoblauch played a key role in the development of numerous players who went on to successful NHL careers, including Connor McDavid, Alex DeBrincat, Sam Reinhart, Dylan Strome, Andre Burakovsky, Anthony Cirelli, Erik Cernak, Connor Brown and Travis Dermott.”

I don't fully absolve Drury or Sather, as the construction of the team is on them as well. Gallant had his faults, which have been mentioned in the comments and as we saw in the last two years, but senior management also has to take some of the heat, especially when it comes to drafting and player development.

LAF and Kakko were consensus picks in their drafts so I cant imagine any other GM doing something different. However their development has definitely been a bit of a let down. Its just so odd… Lias, Krav, LAF, Kakko, Chytil (to an extent), Nils… its too many first rounders, too many flops.

It cannot be overstated how much of a role Shesty played in the last two seasons

Not to mention they'd have likely been bounced early last year if Pittsburgh had anything resembling an NHL goalie in net. I think two things. Parting ways with Gallant was 100% the right move and the trade deadline moves this year were subtraction by addition.

Bottom line, regardless of coach, this team is a paper tiger. Personnel needs to change. No matter the reasons/ causes they aren't made for playoff hockey. Not overreacting, if NYR lost in a way that showed 100% hustle, ability to adapt, play strong on puck, etc. I'd be fine. Devils a good team, buuuut..thisbseries was an abomination..period

Crazy stat from Brooks .
"If you had known before the series that Patrick Kane (1-5-6) would outscore Jack Hughes (3-2-5) and Timo Meier (0-0-0) combined, in how many games would you have had the Rangers?"

Thank you all for the kind words.
Mom passed quietly in the night. No more suffering.

Roy could be just what Lafreniere needs

at the very least it would tell me Lafreniere is still in the plans and is not trade bait

Can't hire a coach for one player, irrespective if he was the first overall pick. Roy's personality with the NY media, holy conflagration, unless he has significantly mellowed from his time behind the bench in Colorado....

Just hope the coach isn’t the only change. Won’t be easy but hope they can tinker with the roster a bit

I have hope but its fading.

Rangers need a culture change to get away from dump & chase hockey, and need to use the skill they have to drive the play up the ice and between the hashes. Their ability to play the boards and possession should be a bonus, not a primary form of attack.

They did try and go east-west not north-south. The problem was they refused at times to play straight line hockey through the neutral zone.

Out of the names being thrown around, I'd say my preference is probably Malholtra. But, I'm not sure Toronto let's him talk to people right now. So, then Knoblauch.
