Say what you want about Gallant, but he was here 2 years, and had over 100 pts each year. Yes we got bounced in the first round, but it was to a team above us in the standings.

It's not like we won the President's Trophy with the best record in league history, and lost to the 8 seed......................

But, whatever. Next.......

Perhaps slightly, but I don't even think mcdavid is having that great of a postseason at moment (in terms of what he's capable of). Leon has better career postseason numbers. More points and goals than mcdavid

I think its cause its a double edged sword? Who do you choose to defend, mark and iso? If you try to take out one the other will hurt you.

Every time theyre on the ice, its essentially a PP because one of them is gonna attract 2 players leaving someone open.

Thank you all for the kind words.

100%. Its a scary duo. Glad they are out west this time and not in our division like Crosby and malkin were for past 2 decades.

It cannot be overstated how much of a role Shesty played in the last two seasons

right, the GG fanboys point to the record, but Shesty had an unreal season last year. so many times everyone was saying how we were outplayed in games, etc and shesty was the only reason we won

iknow TJ was living high on last year and the conference finals, but exactly right. trouba killed crosby and we were playing a 3rd string goalie and still needed a game 7 OT winner

Yep lol. I will give them credit for beating Carolina but we were lucky as hell to get out of that first round. Why watching them crash and burn this year makes me believe we rushed the rebuild lol

Happy to see Drury made the right move. Very easy to point to his record and say he deserves another season but the eye test showed different. Iā€™m sticking with Knoblauch also. Was an assistant coach in Philly for a few years after a really successful OHL run, so he seems ready for an opportunity. Drury obviously knows him well so Iā€™m sure heā€™ll get a good look. No more recycled coaches please, especially not Q or Sutter.

ā€œKnoblauchā€™s 2016-17 Erie club won the OHL championship and advanced all the way to the final of the Memorial Cup, and both that team and the previous yearā€™s Otter squad won the Hamilton Spectator Trophy for compiling the best regular-season record in the OHL. Knoblauch was named OHL Coach of the Year in 2015-16, and also guided Erie to the OHL final in 2014-15. He finished his Erie tenure with an overall record of 216-79-9-5 (.722) in 309 games.

During his time coaching the Otters and Ice, Knoblauch played a key role in the development of numerous players who went on to successful NHL careers, including Connor McDavid, Alex DeBrincat, Sam Reinhart, Dylan Strome, Andre Burakovsky, Anthony Cirelli, Erik Cernak, Connor Brown and Travis Dermott.ā€

Brunette would be a good one too I believe, however at that point why not go Knoblauch? Hes been coaching a few of these kids that are gonna get called up next year.

Iā€™d for sure be on board with knoblauch. But to the point Jimmy always makes about what we think they should do vs what we think they will do, I think Drury would be taking a big risk promoting a coach that has very little NHL experience to take a team over the hump. There is no way Dolan is looking for him to hire a ā€œdevelopmental coachā€

Itā€™s why Iā€™m worried that Q is going to be the choice. Brunette at least has experience

Drury gets a thumbs up for firing a guy who won 2 out of every 3 games? How did his FA signings go this year? Vladdy, Kane and Mikkola were pretty underwhelming. It seems like your FO wanted a simple answer to an unexpected outcome. Not saying GG was Mr. Personality but this decision seems hard to defend.

If weā€™re taking an assistant coach from Toronto Iā€™d prefer Carbery. Has a more proven track record than Malhotra

Theres a reason why GG has been fired from every team in 3 years or less. Drury saw the writing on the wall and nipped it in the bud right away. By your logic, Gallant should have never been fired from Vegas. However, theres clearly something going on there.

Heā€™s won coach of the year in both the ECHL and AHL and from what Iā€™ve seen has an analytics-type mind which would lend itself to placing importance on 5v5 play
