You ass clowns poop on me when I said signing Panarin was a mistake yet here we are and he is proving he doesnt play playoff hockey. He didnt have a good playoff last year, 6g and 10a, which most were secondary assists of the PP and his giveaways and back check sucked!! This year he continued his poopty performance with 2a on the PP in 7 games and he just loved giving that puck away and of course he didnt hustle back to help out defensively!!! I didnt say anything last year about his performance hoping it was just him having to adjust and gave him another year to perform, yet he failed again.

Now his sample size is enough to say he just doesnt play well in the playoffs. 30 playoff games with the Rangers over a 3 year period. 7g and 13a for a player making 11.6m which is almost 14 percent of our Cap. Not good enough!!!

I don't think it's crazy to say that without Panarin, we wouldn't have been in a position to get through the rebuild/retool as quick as we did and get to the ECF last year. It's impossible to say where this team would be today if we never signed Panarin, but we do know that at minimum we got a trip to the ECF only a few years after "the letter" went out. Obviously today he's not worth 1/10th of what he was worth to this team when he signed. Somehow the guy still puts up 90 pts in the regular season like clockwork but that only gets you so far, especially when you have a top 5 contract in the league. Would love to free up that cap space but no one wants that $11.6m and he controls everything.

I just don't know what they do going forward. People can blame Gallant all they want, but the not competing has been a real problem through several coaches. Easy to put the blame on the coach, but I will blame the players every time when the talent is there.

if Dreger says it, I believe it

Im already counting out Gallant as gone and likely Joel Quennville is the next man up

That’s what sports fandom is nowadays. People wanting to be the first ones to tell you they were right

Since they can’t move the core the coach is always just the easiest option lol

Yup, and will be the same result, wash, rinse, repeat.

I can't wait until they formally interview him, and Bettman clears him but the fanbase rages and they backtrack and let him go.

Also after last night, why is Patrick Kane still a topic? He was part of larger problem in that the 18 guys in front of the world class sucked. You literally saw this for years with Henrik Lundqvist. Why are we still doing this?

Edit: And if all 18 guys suck, guess what? That's also a coaching issue. So explain that, please.

Its like those last days of Tortorella when you can see the team was over it.

Wrong, but I’d say I was pretty spot on about Kane

Yeah, I mean I'm not against it, but if anyone thinks that solves anything...... well, be prepared to be disappointed again.

I mean it would be a clown show. You can't hire people who just turn a blind eye to sexual assault allegations and then the allegations turn out to be true.

I mean, if they hired him and they won the cup I'd volunteer for some personal sexual assault.

What about Sutter as a replacement? Won 2 cups with the Kings.

I mean, go back and think about the game last night. In so many instances you had one Devil outworking 3 Rangers on the boards. That aint a coaching issue. A coach cant give a player a heart.

I get the feeling like if Quennville was cleared sooner, he would have been here already

Thanks Jan for another great season of analysis. Not hard to read between the lines from GG. It’s important for both coach and GM to be on the same page. I can see Ott and Cooley on the team next year. I’d like to keep Motte but not show they can keep him. Grit and fire checkers needed for this team. Not sure to about Laf. Hugh supporter but disappeared like others. Except some housecleaning.

Nothing they do this off-season aside from trading some of these big contracts will get me exited for next year. They can’t so I am stuck in purgatory for the next few seasons. Maybe 2027 will get better lol

whatever, nothing we say on hockeybuzz matters

Yeah right Jim, you were tops on the list with Panarin balls deep in your mouth. Its ok we will have another decade of mediocre hockey now with no Cup. 3 more years of great regular seasons and poor playoff performances left with Panarin.
