I appreciate their aesthetic but this brought some of the anger back.

Outside of a few we don’t have the right makeup to win in the playoffs. The playoffs aren’t won playing on the perimeter making fancy plays, they’re won by greasy goals and having guys that are willing to elevate their game come playoff time. I don’t care what coach we put behind the bench, he isn’t going to turn Panarin into a player that drives to the net or wins puck battles along the boards. Our “3rd” line aka the kid line isn’t constructed that way either, we don’t have a line that can shut down an opposing team yet still contribute offensively. The 4th line in my opinion is so/so. I think getting rid of Goodrow is a mistake, as he’s one of the few “playoff style” guys we have on this team. We need to add 1, preferably 2 bigger bodies willing to go to the net and mix it up a bit and show some damn heart. Again, doesn’t matter what coach is behind the bench, some guys just will never play that style of game, and unfortunately we have to many of them.

I was very disappointed in the 4th line, I thought Motte and Vesey would score, I thought Vesey being a Devil last year would help

They were scheduled for Monday but due to non existent "severe weather" they got delayed until after elimination.

That's literally all they did. They just battled on the boards because the devils never let them into the slot area.

Devils didnt have to, the kid line had been playing like that all year. Ive beat a dead horse with my eaving about how I absolutely hate the play through the middle and how they gain entry. LAF makes me pull out hair I longer have! 99/100 times he will entire the zone, stop as soon as he crosses the blue line and look for a cross pass. FKN FFS WTF!

So how can they battle along the boards and not be good enough on said boards. They aren't good enough because Laf and Kakko don't play fast enough to get to the middle of the ice. That's it.

Steve Valiquette on Alexis Lafrenière: "You know what he needs? He needs a summer in the gym. He needs to put his golf clubs in the closet, and he needs to dedicate everything he has to hockey, and then he'll know for himself what he is at this level next year." #NYR

I’m getting more and more frustrated every minute that this guy is not being brought into the org

I think Kakko will still develop into a very good middle 6 player that controls possession and is able to shutdown opposing teams top lines eventually. Chytil has the skill set to be a top 6 center but he needs to work his ass off this off-season and come into camp more consistent than he’s been, the skill is there and we’ve seen the flashes but he needs to do it more regularly. Laf I’m just lost on. What is he? 3 years later and we still don’t know what type of player or how good he will be. If the decision is made to keep all 3, which I think is still a possibility, they need to be put in a position to succeed and if they fail they have no one to blame but themselves.

Panarin makes his money on the PP, 5v5 he leaves a lot to be desired. I’d bump him down to the 3rd line, 1 to send a message and 2 to maybe get him different looks out there. Worst that can happen is he feels disrespected and 1 elevates his game, 2 requests a trade. Either one is a win.

Is vally hinting Laf hasn’t been putting the effort in? Or is he just saying this year will decide his path in the NHL going forward? Bc it sounds to me like he’s saying Laf is lazy when it comes to getting stronger/better

I dont really know the answer, but asking out loud

- jimbro83
