I assume you mean moving Casey up to 3C? If so I don’t agree with that. He’s not a third line center imo. Nobody is taking Bailey unless we include assets which we don’t have. Let’s face it, our young players are more then likely middling prospects. Wahlstrom has been a disappointment there’s no other way to look at that. Can he surprise? Sure, but that is about as far from a sure thing there is. Wotherspoon, Bolduc, Salo, I don’t really see as needle movers. Who knows maybe they do but again I don’t feel they’ll add a whole lot to the lineup next season.

Casey's injury history makes it tough. If they can move JGP for a decent return, I live with Casey as 3C for a year. No perfect solutions for this team. Unless the Cap situation improves in a big way, Islanders are going to have to play some of these young players. Maybe one of Durandau, Dufour or Ishakov surprises? Cannot rule anything out at this point.

Oh! My bad. I translated that incorrectly! And I 100% agree with you. Although I do thing Lane has been far more forgiving than trotz was.

Yeah agreed on lambert giving the kids a chance. Lameriello said last off-season there would be a push to play the kids.

I do think Lane has shown more patience. Unless the Cap situation really improves and the Islanders learn how to sign quality UFA's, they better get good at coaching young talent.

With Lou being 80 I would say finding a younger GM would be easy
I think Chris maybe the GM if Lou retires however if L and M want a fresh start then I don’t see Chris sticking around.

- nyisles7

Supposedly Chris found Faxshing. A somewhat diamond in the rough. I appreciate what Lou has brought to the club, but I’m ready for a different set of eyes to put their mark on this team. Chris would be a Minnie Lou in my opinion. We need a fresh perspective.

I’d bring up ishakov for his shootout goals alone. I think we lost 7 games as shootout loses 😂😂. But seriously I think there will be a fair amount of FA’s that won’t break the bank and could help score goals. The Rangers have a couple in Kane and Tarasenko. Not sure what they’ll command but either might be a good fit.

I was all about Kane but now that kind of faded for me. He was more of a go for it kind of player to me and after the Horvat trade I thought screw it why not. He also said publicly he didn’t want to come here. Tarasenko I would be interested in. Not sure who else is going to be out there UFA wise but the problem we’re going to run into is salary and term. Especially with Sorokin’s upcoming contract. We’ll see maybe there’s some way to shed enough to make something work.

Well Lou groomed Fitzgerald in NJ and he’s done a great job rebuilding that franchise.
If L and M are looking for a new approach they will fire Lou. If they give credit to Lou for bringing the club to respectability once again they may not. Who knows?
Chris learning certain things from his Dad would be good but you would think he would want his own identity if given the GM job.
Really really important off season for all aspects of the club.

If it's already decided Chris is taking over, let it happen this offseason and Lou stays as President for a year or two.

If nothing else Bailey cal and Mm all come off next year. That’s $8.25 you can use for Sorokin. They can easily find three fourth liners for half that I would think. They need to stop paying depth players and add higher end talent like every other team does that consistently competes for the cup.

Problem is that every one of the clubs you’re mentioning competing for the cup also have cheap, up and coming, prospects, that curtail the salary needed to ice a competitive club. We have none. Or they had home grown, contributing, talent, that were locked up to long term contracts already and they added to their lineup tweaking it. Very difficult to just add players with the cap to fill in gaps without cheap young talent. UFA’s will want more then they’re worth. Can’t trade for anyone unless we destroy upcoming drafts like we just 86’d this one for Horvat. Sorry, I know I have a real bleak outlook but right now I don’t see a way of substantially improving this team, especially on the wings, which is exactly what it needs to be competitive. Maybe that changes but I don’t see how.

Hope the panthers win. Good for the Leafs getting out of the first round. They’ve been through enough as far as that’s concerned over the years no matter how much I dislike them.

It had to happen like the Rangers winning a Cup and the Islanders winning a playoff series again.

Yeah I said one of their goalies needed to play decent for them and samsanov has held the fort so far. They have a good team they’ve been to the playoffs together enough and put the time and suffering in. Have to respect that. They are earning it.

Everyone knew Florida was much better than their record indicated, it just took them a while to hit their stride. Boston on the otherhand seemed to massively overachieve all year. This series was the ultimate example of the truth lying somewhere in between.

Seems like the stars are aligning for Toronto, especially if the Rags fall tomorrow. I do think Florida could grind Toronto down over the course of a series, much in the same way they did with Boston
