Panthers have lost two games in the series in which Tkachuk scored. He's one player, and while dominant at his position, certainly not a "top 3 player in the league." Maybe top 3 winger if exclusively looking at recency bias of only the last two years. Pastrnak has been a far superior winger over his career. Tkachuk needs a lot more elite seasons to be in the same consideration.

A good friend in Springfield told me when the regular season ended she did not like matching up against the Panthers. So I know at least one person who thought this was going to be a dogfight and could go seven.

Anyway, you start Swayman and worry about the next series after you win.

So now the excuse train starts about injuries. Monty screwed the pooch on this series playing clearly injured (badly) players after the early lineup had them up 3-1. The blender approach afterwards was a disaster. He'll win the Jack Adams, but he really tanked the post season.

Yes, he played too much with the lineup.
That being said, the players need to take accountability.
During regular season, Bruins were in attack mode. They fought for that puck.
During playoffs, they let the Panthers win most of the puck battles.

I do agree that playing injured players is stupid coaching. But Bergeron, Krejci, and Ullmark missing time/playing injured are massive issues. No team is winning four series with an injured 1C, 2C, and 1G. Colorado had too many injuries to compete too. Health is a huge factor.

Well gents, its been a fun season. Never easy to watch a complete collapse like that, but as people say every year, its the playoffs anything can happen.

Could list a ton of things they could have done better. But in the end, the Cats just deserved that series more.

Bergy a class act until the end. Playing through his injury and embracing his team at the end of the game. Heartbreaking if this is how it ends for him and Krejci. I hope not, but I suppose we will see what happens this off season.

Best of luck to the Cats.

They didnt let the panthers win the battles… the panthers won the battles. Another typical epic bruin collapse.

Rule 10
A hand pass occurs when a player stops, knocks down, or pushes the puck with their open hand, thereby directing the puck to a teammate in the neutral or attacking zone. This includes where the puck deflects off any person or object prior to the teammate gaining possession and control of the puck.

Can anyone explain how that puck was "directed" to a teammate? He was picking up his stick after being crosschecked to the ice.

- Nasty_Duck

A bruin fan complaining about the refs and a bruin getting crosschecked( a bruin specialty) .. priceless

It is disappointing. poop happens though. Gotta own it and move on.

Sweeney's job will be an interesting one this off season. Curious to see how he navigates free agency and if they will be able to resign any of the TDL acquisitions.

It will be interesting to see how the team responds next year. It’s going one of two ways. Revenge tour or that collapse just ruined the psyche of this new core.

You couldn’t have scripted a more epic loss than that last night. I’m not very confident that they just move past this one.

Ottawa was like that, in the early 2000's. Then they'd go out and lose to the Maple Leafs, regardless of where the Leafs were in the standings. Leafs fans would call Ottawa, "Built for the Regular Season". Ottawa would win all of the regular season matches and lose the playoff series.

Biggest issue with Boston and Tampa, is their core is in their mid 30's. Both teams have exhausted their draft capital for the foreseeable future. Watching the Tampa series, their bottom pair defensive pairing was thread bare. One injury to their top 4 sealed their fate. Boston might want to start looking at a retool or rebuild soon. To hold on to their aging stars means losing capital if you decide to eventually trade them. Maybe moving a Brad Marchant would restock their draft capital, but holding on for one more year would denigrate that asset and you'd get less.
