Weegar’s not going anywhere,
Markstrom will be there to mentor Wolf or until another desperate GM takes him.
Huberdeau will bounce back to a 80-90 point player, still overpaid
Kadri will have to stay as Backlund asked for a trade last summer.

I don’t really care what buyouts cost, it’s not my $

Would he? Not sure If you're being sarcastic but He's an undersized 3C, smaller than Hoglander - Isn't that exactly what the team said they were moving away from?

Ek and Sundqvist went down and they still didn't use him in the playoffs. It seems like Dewar is ahead of him on the depth chart - who?? exactly. He did play earlier in the season and went pointless in 19 games. And why are Minny willing to trade him already? Red flags everywhere

- Brooks_Light

Actually I wasn’t being sarcastic. He’s known for his excellent fitness and work ethic. Plays bigger than he is.

For someone that thinks the Canucks could care less about building through the draft, that 3rd for an established D should make you happy.
I’d be more pissed about giving up all those picks for Hronek.

- K-man25

I cared about that wasted third round pick and cap space before the Canucks made it abundantly clear they are not building through the draft. You have watched a few games now of the Abby team and realized very quickly they have a team of replacement players, no stars.

I honestly don't care about the upcoming draft and don't care if we trade our pick. I am not even criticizing the team for what they did or the direction they are going. I have seen some positives.

I do find it funny though when I see comments from guys like Lefty the other day saying who cares about the number 18 pick we gave up from NY and 10 minutes later posting about how good McCann is. I do wish we did trade for uninjured Dmen though and ones that wanted to be here. So when I answer back it seems like I care but I really don't.

You heard it here by me, I don't care what they do.

I still think it is a bad trade but do they try to salvage him as a depth player in a call up?
- VANTEL

I'm not sure how bad his injury status is. Seems like he ran into a bad stretch health wise. Never really got a good run of games. But if a guy like Foote wants to keep him, you do. If not, you don't. Either way, we still have depth issues in that position.

Yeah pretty much depends on his health. I never know what injury is real these days and what injuries are cap related.

I think so.

That said they have picked up Kravstov and if they do trade for a guy like Rossi they are first round picks. Raty a second round pick and Bloom a third round pick. Everything is not negative in my thinking.

We were talking about the Sedins bud

Bo fought a couple times when he had to, off the top of my mind I remember him giving Nurse a decent scrap, Accairi, Coyle. I think Bo was a pretty typical captain in terms of how often he mucked it up - I see the same style in Kopitar, Barkov, Bergeron, Jordan Staal, Toews, Stamkos, Lee, Couture, Crosby, Tavares. Just the way it is.

- Brooks_Light

Ah my bad thought it was a Bo reference. Tavares/Couture 'maybe' out of who you mentioned there but Bo just couldn't wait to get back to the bench as liberties were taken with our star players. But hey...to each their own. There's a reason why Kopitar, Bergeron, Staal, Toews, Stamkos, Crosby etc are champions as they aren't pussies.

All good. Just messing with you.
I think you may be on to something, we can’t control what our teams do. Just hope they pick a lane and stay in it.

What a bunch of nonsense and verbal diarrhea, not once did I say “who cares about the #18 pick”, that’s just false. I said, given the fact they aren’t rebuilding I understand why they traded it for an organizational need as they want to compete. Especially considering they still have the #11 pick.

The team is clearly trying to build from the draft lol, you’d have to be a complete idiot not to see that. They acquired a bunch of picks but at the same time they have used some to try and fix the roster. They aren’t solely building through the draft, they’re signing young free agents, they scooped a young Russian who set a franchise record for rookie goals, they signed a 2nd round kid who didn’t sign with his team. They are using all measures to try and build a prospect pool that was left void by Jim Benning.

The reason there’s no prospects in Abbotsford is because Jim Benning was so bad at his job. I don’t know if the current GM is gonna work out or not but he’s had one draft lol, that’s obviously not enough time to put kids in their AHL team.

Still don't regret any of them going. Flames have painted themselves into a corner and are not much better that us.

I guess I got confused by Allvins comments about "There are other ways besides the draft comments and trading two top fifty picks along with another second and third round pick they sent out the door. Clearly they are building through the draft . Carry on.

You'd have to be, they're not waiting on draft picks while they try to compete with this core.

You’re always confused because you don’t understand they can do both. It’s not black and white. You can build more than one way, all teams do it. But you hate the management team for some reason and don’t like 90% of what they do.

They clearly said they are not rebuilding, in the transitional sense, like Ottawa or Arizona, they’ll use everything at their disposal to try and get better and build a prospect pool and the same time. It’s not hard to understand.

They can build through the draft and try and be competitive at the same time.

But Alvin doesn’t like firsts, he traded one already for a broken D, why not trade for another?
Tanev will retire a Flame, then be inducted into the Canucks ring of mediocrity, wearing his Flames jersey just to rub salt into the wound.Hughes and Petey will give him a standing ovation at the induction ceremony, while the Sedins praise all his accomplishments of his storied career, the fans will cheer for what could of been.
