Gonna be an interesting summer to see how they address the cap issues, who does or doesn’t get traded, and what they do at the draft.
- LeftCoaster

21 spots and about 3M in cap space if Pearson and Poolman are out. Kuzmenko bonus. They will fit just barely.

Hoglander, Woo, Rathbone all require waivers next season.

I agree, But, I heard him say it early on, he wasn't going to sign here.
What bugs me is his unneeded poke at a FanBase that, for the most part had his back, after checking out on a team he was a CAPTAIN of.
If he had a beef with ownership/management say it, don't slam the team

- onesmallleap

Shows immaturity and that he wasn’t fully invested in Vancouver. Fcuk him!!

I couldn’t today, yesterday was on iPad and iPhone, I’m working a capital upgrade project in Ohio at a refinery, no days off until it’s done. Should be done in a couple days. I checked this evening and saw they went for defense today.

Something’s gotta give. I see a Boeser and Myers trade but at the expense of retained salary.

Either Garland or Boeser.

If a team wants to pay for Myers contract but cheap salary.

Oh there it is. Toronto wins

Lol is life that boring that we’re 5-6 months out of the season, 5-10 years out of a playoff spot and we’re still discussing this team everyday. Hughes, Demko and Pettersson will be in the twilight of their careers before the Canucks are a contender.

I think 82-87. Miss by 7-12 points. We’ve been in mediocrity, no man’s land for the last 10-11 seasons. The only playoffs we’ve had since 12 are bubble playoffs… that we would have missed if the season continued.

There’s just too much wrong with this team to have a quick turnaround, too slow, too soft, too much spent on a weak core. Penalty kill is horrible, defense is worse. There’s no can’t miss prospects. We really need a complete rebuild, but the sad truth is we needed one 7-8 years and now we’re stuck in mediocrity.

They had 83 points this year, it’s only 7 more points. They were also 13th in goals for, if they can change their poor defensive habits and get a full year of Demko I think they’re easily a 90 point team. It’s not great, but it’s progress.

Love game sevens. I don’t care who wins both good teams.

I don’t know how this relates to them not caring about drafting? Nice flex though. The fact remains they are trying to get better and still build young talent at the same time.

You don’t have an answer so you just deflect on to what I want, which has nothing to do with the conversation. Yeah, I’d love a scorched earth rebuild, but that ain’t happening. It still has nothing to do with you believing they don’t care about drafting. They’re clearly trying to build youth within the organization, through various methods, and trying to win on the ice at the same time.

- LeftCoaster

I never said they were not trying to get better. My statement was they are not building the farm team through their own draft picks. I did state quite clearly that they are looking at other options like the NCAA free agents and project prospects from other teams. Abby has Woo Salovs Hogs Rathbone and Briesbois as their own drafted players on the team. Hogs and Rathbone mostly developed on other systems.

Building you big club by draft picks is mostly done for teams living on the bottom and I don't think the Canucks care to go that route. They want to win, but don't confuse building a better farm team and building a better farm team with your own picks. Two different subjects.

I don't care what any one says if you trade a first, two seconds, and a third in 18 months then the draft is not a priority.

There's a few and it doesn't look good for changing the format back to 1-8 if they series are as close as they are.
