I'm part of the union, yes, but not as a registered member.

I'm mostly agaisnt strikers usually but I have to admit that my pure hatred of Justin Trudeau is clouding my judgement on this one.

I don't get it either, it's really dumb. from what I understand, I'm "protected" by the union since I do pay my dues, but I'm not registered with a PSAC ID number, which is why I wasn't solicited to vote in favor or against the strike.

That's because they know people who have so little interest in union activities that they won't take the 5-10 minutes it takes to register are likely to vote against things like strikes.

So they add that little registration thing to weed out potential problems.

There is so much misinformation from the unions to their members, but they never get called on it.

Now just to be clear, I am not against unions as I've collaborated with many of them very well in my career. But the way some of them handle some situations rubs me the wrong way.

For exemple, there's a reason they are asking for a significant raise AND for seniority to be the only criteria considered for layoffs.

If they get what they want, there will be less government jobs to compensate. So who's getting bumped? People hired in the last 3-4 years, who are not usually union reps/invested.

But they'll never say that, that would be too honest.

I feel like they could be match as lazy overweight mamals who like to throw their weight around for no reason and are full of poop, next thing you know I have to fight the union and hippos. I think a jaguar would be more effective
