Nelson line was really good last night and the team as a whole played meh the 1st great the second and really solid 3rd and they avoided stupid penalties Romanov aside

I would say Dobson aside also.

I take into consideration this is his first playoffs but Hudson Fasching to me has been one of the bigger disappointments so far. I really thought he would excel in this series before it started. He has been from straight out bad to mediocre so far imo.

I thought last night was his best game and barzal didn't play much maybe 13 minutes. He's clearly not 100%

I thought they just clicked skates which was unintentional and it also took away an isles pp which isn't the worst thing

True

His play has been bad overall this series though. Brind’Amour has definitely homed in on that. I thought aho had himself a real good game last night.

Liked Aho's comments postgame. Basically said they were the better team all night but got some poopty bounces. Not like it's a new thing for them. No reason to panic or doubt. Just do it again next game and they'll get rewarded.

Both?

Even the one that got a facelift midgame ended up playing pretty well.

I'm very happy with ours, I think he's earned a spot on the team going forward. He's no star, but he's simplified his game and hasn't been a liability.

He went from a guy I didn’t want playing to a guy we’d probably be (frank)ed without.

I hadn’t seen the Makar hit until this morning…how is that only a one-game suspension?? Shades of Dale Hunter if you ask me. His explanation doesn’t even make sense and people saying he’s not a dirty player…does that mean we play Bailey next game and he spears their Aho and he won’t get suspended because he’s not a dirty player? Bullpoop excuse, and Makar should be out the rest of that series, period.

Perhaps concerning for them is the fact that the Isles have been the better team 5x5 through most of the series. Last night was different as Carolina was better, yet they lost. If the Isles somehow find even remote success on special teams in game six, they'll likely be heading to Carolina for seven

Yep he’s one of the few players on this team that can transition the puck. Especially out of our zone.

Aho has played pretty well. I'm not sure if the Islanders keep Mayfield? I would let him walk at this point.

Mayfield had a terrible regular season but he has redeemed himself this series imo. I’m not saying sign him because whatever he’s getting I don’t believe he’ll be worth it. He would be stupid to take a home town discount but who knows.

He's going to get overpaid, unless he just wants to stay here and take a team-friendly deal. Paying him $4M+ would be a mistake

Much like Mini-Mayfield.

Fixed

Watching Aho trying to check the bigger forwards can be comical. But I will admit he's getting better at it.

I'd prefer both Aho and Mayfield be replaced. Unfortunately it may be necessary to keep one or both based on Bulduc and Salo clearly not being ready. I have no idea what Mayfield will command and my guess is he'll be gone.
Aho is awful. The only thing folks can say on occassion us he wasn't as awful as usual last night. He still had a couple of turnovers and lost his man on a breakaway which ended with a penalty. I will say he's less awful than he was early in the season, but if they are going to get better, he's one spot they can start with

After Mayfield killed 40 seconds of that PP late in the third by himself, on effort alone I don’t see how you don’t keep that guy. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life. Usually they blow the play after yelling move it, but he pinned the puck with his size 82 skate and 40 seconds ticked away. It was crazy
