People just need to look at the 50+ year draft position VAN has had.
Give your heads a shake! - VanHockeyGuy
This is kinda random, but, I just looked at a few teams and their top three drafting history. How many times they’ve had a top three pick and how many of those were first overall. Since 1970 the Canucks have actually had the most top three picks out of the eight teams I looked at, no first overall picks though, which means they’re missing out on that franchise type of player so many of these other teams have had.
Vancouver - 8 top three picks, none first overall.
Chicago - 6 top three picks, one first overall.
Pittsburg - 7 top three picks, three first overall.
Philadelphia - 3 top three picks, one first overall.
Tampa - 7 top three picks since 1992, three first overall.
Edmonton - 5 top three picks since 1979, four first overall.
Buffalo - 6 top three picks, three first overall.
Colorado - 7 top three picks since 1979, four first overall. |

Maybe in a Bowser form
I've seen lots of public analysts comments that he is a good skater but I've never seen a scout comment to say that.
I'd say his edges are poor, his acceleration is poor, and his straight line speed is okay if he is unimpeded from a skating start behind his own net all the way to the other teams blue line. - manvanfan
His edgework is smooth. It's the quick chop steps when he is pushed laterally and crossovers that seemed to need work when I saw him. |

My trade down was poor I agree. Just trying to gauge for a return. Not suggesting moving 2oa just what value it has. |

Exactly. The kid will probably score 80 points next year for $900k. Macdavid might score 140 for $11MM or whatever he makes. Not to mention he is under control for 7 years. There is no package a team can offer to get Bedard. |

Incredible info from Derek Lalonde (fmr TBL asst coach) on Vasilevskiy's weakness:
"We did a study...he was one of the lower-percentage goalies in finding pucks from the point...we changed our entire Dzone (coverage)."

Even if Canucks somehow won it, they’d skip Bedard and draft Leo. |

If the Canucks win 1OA and get Bedard, I think you'll see them push alllllll the chips in: OEL buyout, trade Myers, trade Garland, sign some UFAs... |

Columbus be looking for a top 6 center this summer.
Lots of prospects (including centers), extra picks(1st rounders 23oa which is likely to remain there), extra defensemen as well.
Canucks could get Lane Pederson back as part of that trade too.
Interesting development
They’re also likely to add Dmitry Voronkov for next season although he won’t be ready to play in the top six right away either.

Thinking of possibilities of re-shaping the defence but remember OEL still signed and going to come back "better, faster" next season
Chicago might be a team they could trade with. 40M in cap space for next season.
Connor Murphy 6'4" 210 lb right shot D. 4.4 signed for 3 more seasons. M-ntc 10 team Van might not be on the list.
Trade for Myers, straight up Van saves 1.4M in cap, Myers used for extra cap for them and trade asset at the TDL. Quite possibly if they would take on Garland for 1 of there 4 seconds this year as well, to get to the cap floor obviously.
So Murphy and 2nd for Myers and Garland. Okay it's like a dream scenario for Van fans but still. Well not really, I mean they could get more individually. |

Per Sportbladet, cost to insure Elias Pettersson for the Men’s World Championship prohibitive for Swedish federation. He won’t be able to join the team for the tournament as a result.
Probably a good thing so he doesn't get hurt. |

Eastern Conference Scout on Dalibor Dvorsky
"He's a work horse. Drives play up and down the ice. Defends well. Won't be a big point guy, but has an energy line future."
He doesn't have the best comparables from where he has played. Drance had mentioned Jacob De La Rose. I think he has a lot more skilled than he did.
If he is still on the board at 11. He may not be the prettiest player on the board but he's more of what Van need than they don't. |

It's weird as CAR played tougher/heavier Hockey during the reg. season but now they look like a team full of Horvats. Better get their sh!t together. |

No, because you aren't bright enough to realize that analytics have been used for more than 50 years, by many nhl teams, who have won the cup.
But, pretty typical of the new age analytic types, thinking it is something new. |
