It would appear the Sens will have more than one max bid. It is now in the realm of who can make the best case in partnering with NHL, NCC, the city and the team's fan base.

But remember, the group making the most noise about the bidding is almost always the guys who are behind . The group with the inside track and leading the bid process will seldom make any noise about how the negotiations are proceeding.

It's a fait accompli. It was always going to be Ryan Reynolds, the extra PR and publicity it'll bring is worth quite a bit to the league. The whole 'theyll pick another bid and get Reynolds to join them' never held much water IMO.

Interesting to see. I think the Sens have a good chance to be in the playoffs, next year. Having an owner with deep pockets will be of help, to shore up the depth on the Senators. Living in the city of the farm team, in Belleville, you get to know the players on the cusp.

I hope you are right. This young team making a run for the Stanley Cup would make for a spectacular tv production. They have great young kids. Other very good young talented teams getting ready to break through (Devils, Sabres, Wings).

Let's see if Reynolds shows up in Germany for a few exhibition games and Stockholm for the season opener.

Ryan renolds and friends. Imo feel comfortable with them to buy the sens and have the best interest of the team long term. And make a billion dollars while doing it..is a-ok. I would just have 1 request if i could.....no more gimmicky catch phrases to describe the seasons or team. They were so lame and cheap.

The sens have to make the playoffs next year and do some damage. Its time .

When teams get to where the Sens are now they usually finish off their roster by adding a few key veterans in top 6 (Giroux) and bottom 6 (Brassard). This coming year I would like to see them add some veteran size and grit. I really like Tom Wilson.

Hearing Winnipeg goalie is as good as gone. One of the best in the league but he will be asking $9m+ and the Sens could not fit that salary under their cap.

Helly is going to be 31 when his next contract kicks in, the GM that him 9m+ should be institutionalized in a mental hospital.

Agree.

Next season. Watch for Boston, Tampa, Washington and Pittsburgh to slide down in standings (not necessarily out of playoffs). Islanders are not getting better. But should stay about the same. Door is opening for Buffalo, Detroit and Ottawa. We will all be chasing Devils.

Not sure about Rangers. They have great goaltending and a strong defensive core. But I could see them sliding back. Rangers top 6 is not elite or aging very well. Kane and Tarasenko trades were not wise moves.

But a Debrincat for Helly trade makes sense if he truly wants out of Winnipeg. Both players with one year left on a contract. But if I'm Winnipeg, I want Grieg as part of any deal. And I'm okay with that.

Apologies for dropping off there - work got really busy, and had some family illness to manage. I'll put something together later tonight to get the Sens back on the main Hockeybuzz page.

With that poor performance the entire rangers team had lastnight, and Lafreniere doing absolutely nothing (literally, zero points in the series) do we pitch a Brannstrom for Laf trade? with some tweaks, probably a mid pick or 2 going their way because of draft pedigree and see if we can fix him? It could be a buy low and sell high trade, we have a ton of young defensemen and Branny upped his stock towards the end of the year.

His statline really is something. Literally nothing.

Alexis Lafreniere in 7 games against the Devils

— 0 Goals
— 0 Assists
— 0 Points
— 0 PIMS
— 0 +/-
— 0% Faceoff
— 0 Net Takeaways

He'll likely be low balled in his ELC this year.

Laf will be a career 3rd liner, and would be a major upgrade over what OTT has right now as 3rd line players with the sole exception of Pinto, If OTT believes Kleven is ready to start next season on the LD and JBD on the RD, they should do a Branny for Laf trade

Those really are insane numbers,
I think if we dont jump on the trade, Montreal could offer up the Panthers 1st+ for him in some sort of package, his value is really hard to evaluate right now though

We really should be on the hunt for a more permanent writer over the summer. Especially with snoop and ryan and everyone else seemingly coming out of the wood work to buy this team.

Ian Mendes writes for the Athletic but he'd be a good writer here. An actual name. And he could use this plat form to promote his bigger articles at the Athletic to perhaps get people to pay for subscriptions.

Just a thought.
