Related to this, how do they overcome the terrible inefficiencies of things like the Tyler Myers and Oliver Ekman-Larsson contracts? The duo combine for cap hits of more than US$13 million, but the Canucks have been outscored by about 20 goals when either has been on the ice this season. They’re paid like top-pairing defencemen but their performance hasn’t matched their salaries. - Patrick Johnston |

Who is dumb enough to rebuild with Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Guentzal on the roster. - manvanfan
Clearly they have no interest in rebuilding, which is why they just canned their management team. Rumblings that ownership was extremely disappointed in the lack of movement at the TDL.
Blackhawks went into a rebuild with Toews and Kane, plus they traded Duncan Keith away. This is how it should be done. When it’s over, it’s over. Hanging on for dear life isn’t wise. In three years the Pens will have won nothing and be forced into a rebuild, which they should’ve started three years prior. |

Crosby and Malkin have brought them 3 cups, I can't imagine they want to make those guys feel disrespected the way Toews and Kane felt. Not saying it's the right decision, but I get the logic. |

Their salaries weren't disrespectful. Also, Toews doesn't deserve an ounce of respect, he is fecal matter. |

Just my opinion but when you get sentimental with these guys, like the Canucks did with the Sedins, you’re doing your franchise a disservice. Like I said previously. how are they planning on getting better without any grade A prospects to to trade? They also don’t have a plethora of good young players to trade for immediate help, largely because they’ve been trading away their good picks to do just that, compete for a Cup. There are only so many ways to get better outside of the draft.
The Capitals are at a crossroads themselves with Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Carlson, Oshie and Backstrom all getting up there in age and missing the playoffs. |

Never liked the Sedin's, they were great players however I just didn't like their style of play. |

From a business point of view you're completely right, that's how I would run it in NHL 23

Toews had a pretty nice send off last night, if he feels disrespected he hides it very well. |

A panel of 16 NHL.com writers voted Karlsson the winner of the Norris Trophy, awarded annually to the NHL's top defenseman. He received 15 first-place votes and 75 points overall. Cale Maker of the Colorado Avalanche, who won the Norris last season, was second with 32 points, including one first-place vote and Adam Fox of the Rangers was third with 25 points. |

It’s foolish to chase something because you think you owe it to certain players, you’re essentially destroying your future for their sake. |

I disagree with this personally. If the Canucks were a winning team in playofs, i'd wager he gets votes. |
