Man, Quick was amazing for them. Some of the best playoff Goaltending ever on that first run.

Cougars in tough against Seattle. Lambs wide open style won’t work in the playoffs against good teams but I’m still going tues and wed just for some entertainment. Listening and following the team they are on the right track to be good for a few years, they have some good players in the pipeline to compliment the young stars already there.

Carolina system is pretty overrated I'd say. Los Angeles system is supposed to have a lot of top end talented scoring and it's failed to show up on the team.

Since 2014, Adrian Kempe is the only King draftee that has cracked 100 points. Even Van has 6 in that time to crack 100 points.

Ahl team isn’t very good.

This would have been the year to stockpile 2nd rounders. Many good D in there it's deep.
- LordHumungous

Rutherford said they'd like to recoup the 2nd round pick, I find that unlikely.

Not sure I would call 8 or 9 deep, just a regular amount of decent defensemen available in the 2nd round.

There’s been seventeen Cups handed out since the 2005 lockout, which implemented the salary cap, of those seventeen Cups handed out, eleven different teams have won it. But. The teams that have won the majority of them, Pittsburgh, Tampa & Chicago won eight of those, share one thing in common, first overall picks and excellent drafting. Colorado and Washington also share those things. I think the only team without a top three pick was Detroit in 2008, but they were a holdover with a lot of future Hall of Famers on that team.

2022 Colorado Avalanche (3rd)
2021 Tampa Bay Lightning (3rd)
2020 Tampa Bay Lightning (2nd)
2019 St. Louis Blues
2018 Washington Capitals
2017 Pittsburgh Penguins (5th)
2016 Pittsburgh Penguins (4th)
2015 Chicago Blackhawks (6th)
2014 Los Angeles Kings (2nd)
2013 Chicago Blackhawks (5th)
2012 Los Angeles Kings
2011 Boston Bruins (6th)
2010 Chicago Blackhawks (4th)
2009 Pittsburgh Penguins (3rd)
2008 Detroit Red Wings (11th)
2007 Anaheim Ducks
2006 Carolina Hurricanes

Doesn't always work, how many teams have had lots of high picks and still suck or never won a cup?

Not surprising. Seattle is incredibly stacked. They were good before they got Guenther and Lambert. I think they'll take it all.

Mcdavid is the key, the rest wouldn’t be as good without him especially on that lethal PP.

Even if you discount the past six first overall picks (time) just look at where those teams are since the 2005 lockout. Of course the end goal is to win the Stanley Cup but it’s also to have a good competitive team. NJ is good, Toronto is good, Edmonton is good, Pens won 3 Cups, Hawks won 3 Cups, Tampa won 2 Cups, Colorado won 1 Cup.

I watched 2 periods last night. That top line is solid. Levis and Finnie I wouldn't mind as later round picks.

I agree. Hofer was also a good pick up for them later in the season. I just don't see them hanging with a team like Seattle, who can pretty much roll 4 lines with the size and speed to match any style of play. They also have one of the best D corps in the league and world class Goaltending. Best team I watched this year by a country mile.

I haven’t watched this year but have followed them. They’re going to be a solid M cup team. Stankhoven going for his 2nd WHL mvp. Made some move to bolster the roster.
But I do like Seattle, they were a good team last year, sometimes you got to lose to learn how to win.
Iginla gonna get drafted next year, hopefully for nostalgia reasons it’s the Flames. I see the kid at our gym all the time when I’m home. He’s a very respectful, pleasant dude.

Tij looks like he hit a growth spurt this season. He seemed a lot shorter at the start of the year. All the ingredients are there. He definitely needs to fill out but that doesn't stop him from going to the greasy areas. Hard to believe he's only 16. Doesn't turn 17 until August. Unfortunately, by the time he's draft eligible the Flames will be picking too high.
