Alex Romanov not participating in today’s #Isles practice. If you missed preview tweet, Mathew Barzal is practicing with the team.

No Romanov though

Thought that would be the case. Hopefully we see him towards the end of the series or if we’re lucky enough to advance the second round. Figured he would be no contact for a while. Kind of shocked they haven’t called Hutton up instead of Bolduc. He seemed more steady/predictable to me when he was up last season. Think he may be a better fit for the playoffs.

Hutton's a RHD, that's probably the reason (violins and cellos, yada yada yada)

I won't be surprised if they plug Wotherspoon into the lineup instead of Bolduc though. Not that Wotherspoon is a Norris candidate, but Bolduc will likely struggle against CAR swarming offense

Wotherspoon seems like the right move.

Ahhh gotcha. They’re going to have to figure it out real quick. Svechnikov being out will be a big positive for us.

Really? That guy hasn't played in like 2 months. I can't see them throwing a guy into game 1 who hasn't played since January

Going to be tough either way. I did not know Witherspoon had not played since January. Witherspoon looked good and should have been given a longer look.

Bolduc didn't exactly inspire confidence in a must-win game against a bottom feeder team. Carolina will eat him alive. Not saying it's a lock to happen, but he's a little more steady defensively than Bolduc is

No surprise: Barzal skating on Horvat’s right wing along with Lee.

During line drills, Josh Bailey taking rotations skating on Cizikas’ left wing with Clutterbuck instead of Martin.

Could be Martin's a little banged up after a long season of throwing hits.

This is why Wotherspoon should have been in BPT getting some ice time.
I was just going to say goodbye to Bailey's ice time but he is skating on 4th line??

He didn't that's for sure. It's one thing if Wotherspoon was playing in the AHL or something but he has literally done nothing but practice once in a while the last two months. How do they just throw him into the lineup game 1? I know they are low on options, but I just don't see it. Hopefully Romanov is back soon

Yeah that could certainly be the case. Although nobody said he had the day off so I assume he's out there.

We still have tomorrow and Sunday to see if Romanov can rejoin the team I guess. Doesn't seem that way as of right now though.

Six guys in white sweaters this morning: Horvat, Barzal, Lee, Engvall, Palmieri and Nelson.

In other words I think it's safe to say Barzal is probable -- and then some -- for Game 1.
