I know it sounds crazy but I kind of want to play the Bruins. Love to see the Isles knock them out in the 1st rd after their historic regular season. They would be big time underdogs and nobody would give them a chance just how they like it 🤣 Fack it go right up to the biggest and baddest in the yard and throw down🤣🤣 whatever happens happens

I have to agree with you. The history of the Islanders verse the Canes both in the regular season and playoffs scares me more than the current Bruins.

There are always upsets in the 1st round.

He was having a terrible game to begin with. On our 2nd PP, the puck was kinda flubbed down the ice and he just coasted back like it was some leisurely skate in the park and Suzuki just pounced, skating around him and roofed a backhand. I can’t blame Sorokin because he was probably shocked it happened. A room full of veterans were probably shocked some rookie would half-ass a play like that in such a big spot.
- potvin05

Not trying to defend Bolduc but on the play you’re referring too it was a blatant holding the stick penalty on Suzuki that allowed him to do that. Pretty incredible that he was able to score on that play while clearly holding Bolduc’s stick that guy has some unbelievable talent but that goal should’ve never counted.

He did. It'll be known for decades to come simply as, The Backcheck.

That is absolutely true. 20 years from now someone here will say "Remember the backcheck?"

Atmosphere at UBS was amazing. Crowd was nuts. Team deserves a ton of credit for making it to the playoffs without Barzal for almost a quarter of the season. I have my doubts but hoping he’s up and running for game one.

I can't believe Im saying this but I hope you guys knock out one of the top seeds, preferably the Bruins. I think Sorokin can steal things for you guys. He's such a stud.

Also, I want to retract what I said yesterday when I said that neither of our teams deserve to be in playoffs. Obviously the Isles going to 4-0 vs the Pens this season makes them much more deserving for one of the final two spots.

Cheers.

Lambert played him last night so you can bet he’ll be in game one. Here’s to hoping Bailey can find his playoff game again because he’ll be more then likely playing.

I only caught about the last ten minutes of the game but watched the highlights this morning. He did have (at least) one bad giveaway in their own zone and didn't seem to be skating that hard at first on Suzuki's goal. If he took off at first, Suzuki doesn't have a play and he's not in the position he was in.

The Islanders have had their ups and downs all season. They made it to the post season without their number one center and Horvat not scoring since Barzal went out. That’s without mentioning Pelech, Palmieri, Clutterbuck, etc out for long stretches. They 100% deserve to be where they are.

If the Pens made it you would deserve to be there also. Pens have dealt with a ton of injuries as well. But if any team makes it to the post season I think it’s kind of tough to say they didn’t deserve making it with hockey a sport where everything is earned. I know you’re retracting your original statement I’m just kind of adding to it…

I hear you. I was at the game and just watched the replay on the Jumbotron once so maybe I didn’t get the best look. Looked to me like Suzuki almost pulled himself around Bolduc by holding his stick.

It was a sick play on Suzuki’s part either way but it 100% should’ve been a penalty. It’s like the refs looked at it and we’re like we can’t penalize that bcs it was so sick.

Yeah for sure. Mostly where I was coming from is that if you have to rely on other teams to lose to get in, then its not quite the same as all the other teams already at the party that clinched by winning themselves haha.

Yeah I guess there’s some truth to that statement but over the course of an 82 game season it all evens out with wins and losses. Panthers have been on absolute fire for a while now while the islanders haven’t exactly been lighting it up for the last ten games. I think playing without Barzal was finally starting to catch up with them. Their PP has been bad all season but has gone to downright atrocious since he’s been out. I think most of us are just hoping we don’t give up a shorty when we go on the PP.

If we lost that game because of that goal make no mistake I would be raving lunatic mad. It’s easy to laugh about it due to us winning. Still have no idea how he got that shot off with one hand?

Pretty certain Sorokin has no idea how he did it either.

Absolutely on both above, but fortunately we won. I like that Suzuki. Fast as poop, seems to be pretty tough and knows how to get away with sh!t.

That is a very important quality to be a successful NHL player especially in the playoffs.
