Alex Romanov has resumed skating. He’s working with Mathew Barzal before #Isles morning skate.

Unsurprisingly, no Barzal tonight either

Well, I guess it all comes down to who wants it less.

Hopefully we see the team that played the last game against Tampa and not the one that showed up in Washington!

I'd be suprised if barzal plays in post season before game 3 or 4

Holmstrom's not exactly a stud either, but I don't totally understand this one. To go from the press box to the first line is a pretty big jump

Only positive thing I'll say is that Bailey always seems to step up in big playoff games, which is effectively what this is

Eh, I mean, where else is he going to go? Nelson's line has probably been the most dangerous scoring line (for whatever that's worth), Pageau's line has been the most tenacious, and Bailey doesn't have the...ah...let's say consistent work ethic to play on Cizikas' line.

The top line that doesn't top line is probably the best fit for him other than the press box.

I get the logic, it's just hilarious to say that he hasn't been good enough to play very much lately but now in a must-win, season-on-the-line game he's good enough to play with what should be the top line

Exactly as far as I'm concerned, the Nelson line has been the top line the last month anyway. I would call that 1st line the 3rd or 4th line last 4 weeks or so

Looking forward to the crowd moaning every time Bailey falls down or make a stupid clearing attempt right onto the stick of a Canadian

I agree on the later but there's a reason he's been sitting and if he's this clutch why wasn't he in the last 5 games or whatever it was? Pray they win and barzal is back so they both sit

Agreed, the optics are hilarious. And considering the last time he was on the ice he was standing perfectly still watching a goal against, I'm not sure he deserves to play at all. But I guess he does sort of complete the look on that line if you think of it as a "Show Me Something" line.

Bailey with a goal and an assist tonight then?
Could be his last game as an Islander. Lane giving him a chance to redeem himself?
That line has been mediocre at best maybe this will get them going.

Why don't the Isles deserve to get in because they lost to the caps the other night? They've been playing the last two months without their best player. For them to stay in the race without him and possibly get in the playoffs without him is a borderline miracle
- Vukota

That's not the only really bad performance you guys have had down the stretch, no? Seem to remember quite a few but perhaps I'm wrong. I popped over here quite a few times the past month or so and the general mood was very bad a lot of days.

Pens have been without 3 and 4 starting d-men for long periods of time since the calendar turned 2023, at which time they were 4th overall in the whole league, including their best defensive one. When Jarry went down in the winter classic he was the top statistical goalie the full two months leading up to it that day..then missed 3 weeks....miraculous they are sniffing at the playoffs too. However, I still dont think they deserve them as a team. Some of the players definitely do, most do not.

I think most people who have crossed paths with that imbecile realize that it's either someone's low-effort attempt at a troll account or he's just someone who has two brain cells that are fighting each other for 2nd place
