Problem is the start of the playoffs is three days after the end of the regular season(next Monday) this coming Friday. They more then likely won’t be ready for game 1 if neither are ready this week which would suck.

Well that would suck, yes.

Let’s hope that is not the case, and that the team is just being cautious.

At this point, I'm not expecting Romanov back anytime soon. If he's not even skating then he's still, at the very least, a couple weeks from getting into a game.

Still holding out hope that Barzal can make his return at home on Wednesday, if not then ideally he'd be back for the first game of any potential playoff series.

He’s skating on his own not with the team I thought. If that’s the case I wouldn’t expect him for a couple of weeks which would put him(Barzal) in sometime around game 2 or 3 from my estimation. Romanov I have a feeling is toast for the season. Shame he really started picking up his play before he got Corey Perry’d.

True, but I guess I can't really rule out them throwing him in against Montreal out of desperation if they falter in some capacity tonight, unless he's really still pretty banged up. In reality, you're probably correct...but with the playoffs on the line they could come out of left field with something we wouldn't typically see at any other point in the season.

It would be completely out of the ordinary for a team to risk a players health even in a do or die situation like that game may be. That’s unless he’s healthy enough to go which I can’t imagine if he’s not even practicing with the team. I would also think there would be some liability with the team and players union if he were rushed back before following whatever the normal protocol is for recovery for his injury. Again, that goes out the window of course if he’s actually cleared to play and the team is just slow playing that which under the circumstances I doubt.

If they lose tonight with the caps being this shorthanded then they don't deserve the post season. Also barzal not skating with the team yet so idt he's back for round 1 either

To recap, the #Caps tonight vs. the NYI figure to be without Ovechkin, Oshie, Mantha, TvR and Dowd, who also did not skate this morning. That means WSH will have 17 skaters again. Man, cap issues on top of everything else seems to be only way this season could end

I would say Romanov has a better chance of playing in the opening round then Barzal.

Maybe. I have no idea. Barzal at the very least skating and Romanov not tells me otherwise though but who knows…
