I think that any changes to the F and D next year have to come internally.

One of Kleven, JBD, Thomson have to grab a slot on D and hold onto it.

Guys like Sokolov, Crookston, Grieg, Gauthier have to fill in the 3rd and 4th line.

Sign hamonic cheap and veteran (Motte again) and that's the team. Barring a return of Formenton.

Now the goaltending and coaching....woof.

5 goals. 15 shots.
I can’t even.
Leevi was caka in the first game. And same in the second. Not sure what’s in Sean Simpsons bong. The kids angles are poop.

Ugly performances by both goalies tonight. A winnable game with better netminding. Good on Alex Lyon. And for once - good on the coach. Yes, it's a gamble to run a 20 year old with no experience out there - but it's nice to see Smith trying to see what sticks instead of doing the usual old faithful nonsense with Talbot benched. Remarkable. Showing some emotion too. Not job saving remarkable, but good on him. Probably signals Talbot is on his way out.

I got 4 3rd overall picks in 54. Not bad odds at all, right? Then I went 0 in 46.

I was disappointed with last nights game
After that cheap shop Debrincat did on Tkachuk if ya gonna play that way with a Tkachuk better keep your head up as Debrincat found out quickly
Now even tho Debrincat brought that on himself Ottawa should of ran players back not bump and fall on goalie like Brady did and then fought old man Stall and got ejected🤦‍♂️
Then our Goalies were brutal couldn’t stop a beach ball if they tried
Took them 79 gas to get eliminated from playoffs
So they fought hard to stay Alive

They need a new Goalie cause the kids are not ready yet
I was on the fence with Debrincat about trading or keeping but now that Ive watched enough games I’m convinced with Norris coming back we don’t need him find a cheaper capable top 6 LW
Then put Joseph and Guthier with Pinto
Greig Kastelic Sokolov on 4th line
Spend that money from Debrincat for top 6 decent winger to play with Stutzle and Giroux
And grab a Number 1 Goalie who can keep them in games

I will say Debrincat has endeared me with his tenacity. With his previous fight and coming back from that hit. Then wanting to fight mathew at the end. That was a coward move by mathew not to oblige him , even if it was a lopsided fight.. If it was Brady in that situation i am certain he would have.
I think debrincat is more of a badger then i thought.
Overall though the team is to small

If nothing else, we are learning the difference when you have to play your best Dman excessive minutes. Pretty obvious this is an entirely different team with Chabot, Cychrun and Hamonic in line-up.

Let's play Sanderson that much in that situation for a few years and then see if you still think he's their best Dman.

What's a little worrisome is that it seems new ownership will not be taking control at least until some time in July and DeBrincat's qualifying offer needs to be in before then. Just qualifying him would be problematic if you ever wanted to move him and so Dorion might get the go ahead to extend him and extending him is the landmine I warned about when he was first acquired.

When you include the Talbot trade and the Paul and Brown trades (which I know were not technically part of the summer action) what an unmitigated disaster the "Summer of Pierre" is turning out to be!

Not that long ago the team was swimming in draft picks and money and some people on this thread were screaming to get rid of them because what good were they to the team. Well Dorion sure got rid of the draft picks and will soon cap the team out so they got their wish; and there is nothing coming down the pipeline.

Sokolov will never be an NHL player. Greig is marginal at best. Joseph can't be moved. Kelly is a little thing buzzing around and not doing anything. Patrick Brown is marginal along with Gauthier and I don't see any reasonable option for them as far as acquiring a goalie goes unless they want to really thin out the team even further.

Unfortunately I don't think we've seen the last of the Dorion magic.

I remember listening to a Dorion interview a while back and he explained about how he wasn't at all concerned that Chychrun was a LD. He said that lots of Dmen in Europe play on their off side. That's either him being disingenuous or just plain dumb. They don't forecheck in Europe and the game is really slow so sure they can play on their off side. This is the NHL. What a scary GM he is!

By the way that was a classic hit by the other Tkachuk on DeBrincat. I'm not averse to fighting in the NHL but I also like the physical play and don't like it that anybody who throws a good body check now has to immediately fight someone. It's almost like they want to take body checking out of the game.

Yep i am with you on dumb fighting after a clean hit. And the mathew hit was legal. However after the type of game this was. And it was in the last few minutes, not immediately after. Mathew should have accepted the challenge.
I am with you on Brady falling on the goalie. Once ok...your mad. Twice ...well. the refs lost control.
Anyway good strong points made, and good reading.cheers.

I think TO is going to win a playoff series. This Tampa team looks poor.

They can't get a save. Can't lie. I'm happy. A shot at Bedard. Go Detroit, go Buffalo.
