ND issued the challenge. Kastelic answered the bell. They engaged at the same time, despite the ref being between them. It's weird that a fight happened after a fight, but there was no instigator/roughing called for a reason.

understand your view, we can disagree. but will say, was an entertaining game.

he now has 18 point and is a minus 1. all points coming the second half of the season. that was my reference to you being correct. the boom from the point...glad he is shooting more.

Yes, thank you for the acknowledgement. Any time a player has to re-learn or revamp how they play the game, its takes time for them to form new habits and gain confidence, but once that happens the offense comes. You see it with Risto and you will see it with Cates also, though not sure what his offensive up side will be.

Except they were man handled. Did you miss York getting run thru the boards and Farabee getting his ass beat in a fight? Deslauriers didn't stop those incidents from happening, nor did he stop Konency getting hit into the boards and suffering a significant injury that's kept him out over a month.
- Feanor

You just don't get it. Ottawa instigated the roughness and the Flyers answered back. You have to have the players to do that and the Flyers do, thus they were able to respond quite adaquately. If the Flyers don't have ND, that game could have gotton a lot worse.

absolutely. and don't agree with everything you say. just remember you saying his points will come around and you believed he was going to start to get PP minutes. was surprised when i looked where his plus minus was. he has his flaws for sure. but he is also on the team.

and also agree i think he has improved this year.

The Sen engaged as ND was going to the box, only reason ND invited him to fight. To me that is BS and breaks the code. What did you want ND to do when the Sen was in his face?

ND waved him over. It wasn't subtle.

I agree to a point. I wish ND was a better hockey player though.

I am sure his teammates love him though. Honestly, the double fight was pretty damn badass. Just wish he would have gotten his money's worth with Kastelec. I am not sure how Kastelec does not get an instigator there. He started the squirmish with a push and then followed ND across the ice. I believe both game misconducts were automatic.

- mickel25

I'm sure they think he's a good guy and they like him but that's completely irrelevant. The players wouldn't care if he wasn't here next season. Unfortunately, Fletcher signed him to a 4 year deal. He can't play. I look forward to the day when players whose main attribute is that they can fight, are out of the league.

the first connect was when ND was going to the box, the Sen bowed up and engaged, I am sure he was asking what ND's favorite color was, then yes, ND waved him over. Point being, if the Sen didn't engage first there would be no wave over.

When Torts talks about subtraction of those players that are not bought in, I believe he is talking primarily about Kevin Hayes. The Flyers will need to cover salary to move him, but its addition by subtraction at this point. The Flyers want to get younger and surround those players with the right type of veterans ... Tort's type of veterans ... and Hayes is not that.
- jd250

Bring in Torts type of veterans. What could go wrong. I await the day when some realize that building or molding a team in Tortorella's vision is a huge mistake. Hopefully, Briere has more sense.

It was a push and some jawing. Hardly call that 'engaging'.

ND waved to Kastelic THREE times as he skated toward the box.

After the push and some jawing, ND clearly waved Kastelic over, challenging him.

Kastelic accepted and dropped his gloves.

Where's the extra penalty?

Ristolainen is having his worse season as a pro. Is Ristolainen the only player who has had to re-learn or revamp how they play? Besides Cates who is learning a completely new position.

Keep in mind all the refs were standing there listening to what was being said. If it wasn't a mutual engagement a penalty would have been called one way or the other. ND was clearly willing. He wasn't "jumped" or "stalked".

This is ridiculous. The Flyers had 5 shots on net through two periods and 11 shots for the game. They were pathetic last night. Deslauriers had zero effect. He is a neanderthal who can't play and should be out of the league. Perfect player for the Flyers to sign to a 4 year deal..

I agree he was not, I don't debate that, look at the 33 second mark, why would the Sen be there, that is what instigates what comes next

The waving and gesturing to a player is instigating. It was a wash.

I guess we could blame the officials for not keeping the teams at bay while the combatants went to the box. It happened close to the benches too.

truly just ones opinion over another. I will say, if I am the league today how do I coach the refs on making sure that doesn't happen again? I think it obvious, they will instruct them to make sure after a fight, players not involved not be in close proximity to the combatants. I think the same message will be delivered to the teams.

Pinto is a really good player - 2nd round pick
DeBrincat is a really good player - 2nd round pick
Maybe there is hope for us......nevermind
CF the heaping pile of poop that just keeps on giving....

- mr4tno

1st pick in the 2nd round. A 2 year college player who made good. Probably a good pathway for Cutter.
