If there is no policing on the ice then we would see a lot more injuries and a lot of cheap shots happening. Players need to be held accountable and by accountable I mean that they sometimes need a good ass beating. If you take that fight askext out of it it would get ugly on the ice.
Plus, that is what makes hockey so special. You fight and then sit for 5 minutes in a box. In any other sport it's fines and suspensions

- Bob Habib

How many times does "policing" actually happen on the ice? It's rare. You saw last night. Having Deslauriers on the team did not prevent the Sens from taking some runs at players and playing physically. Fighting is fine within the flow of the game and in the fire of competition. Players like Deslauriers, whose best attribute as a player is his ability to fight. Should be removed from the game. It's good to have some toughness on your team so you have players who can handle that when it's needed. You just want those players to be a able to play.

Lack of talent and a lack of team cohesiveness is often mistaken for a lack of work ethic. That hasn't been the Flyers issue. Their issue has been talent and coaching.

Tortorella has them playing hard every night now? No team plays at a high level every game but what did you think of the Flyers 11 shot performance last night? Did they play hard?

- MJL
I think they were overmatched against a fast/physical team that was playing for their playoff lives on home ice last night.

I don't know what he is looking at or thinking. Tortorella in a hockey ops position with great influence over the team would be a complete disaster for the Flyers. He's a mediocre coach at this point.
- MJL
Personally I think Torts is already in a hockey ops position with great influence over the team. Your worst nightmare is coming true.

Tortorella has done a good job getting the team to play as a team. Even though I think it's the wrong way to play. I also give him credit for speaking out publicly that the team is unprofessionally run and that changes need to be made in the front office. I think he has been a catalyst for that. So he has served a purpose so far. It's what he is likely going to want to change to, that is the issue for me and what scares me.

Flyers v Sabres
Pitt v Boston

Florida has Columbus

Sunday

Flyers V Pitt

A good weekend would be Flyers beat Sabres, Pitt loses to Boston, Fla beats Columbus and Philly knocks off Pitt on Sunday to put the Pens outside looking in

all team just ahead of Flyers win

They're gonna finish 7th worst in the league (right where they are now). You heard it here first.

Just for trolls!
- MJL

An internet troll is someone who makes intentionally inflammatory, rude, OR upsetting statements online to elicit strong emotional responses in people OR to steer the conversation off-topic.

I'm only rude to those who are rude to me. Posting confidently and with assurance is not rude. Nor is it intended to be. You can dismiss my points at your discretion. I don't care. My points stand on their own merit. Attack or disagree with my points all you want. I welcome it.
- MJL

Yeah, no. You’re often rude if someone disagrees with you. I have a long enough track record on here for folks to know that I don’t lead with being combative, but if others throw BS at me, I just might throw it back. I was not rude to you in our conversation about Cates. When others point out your rudeness like I did, you just deny you are being rude.

The two main posters you have been going back and forth with lately are both here to talk about Flyers hockey…same as you and same as me. Therefore, I propose that none of us be rude and disrespectful in our responses. If someone starts the insulting tone, give the then if they choose to rephrase, the conversation continues. If not, no need to respond. Fair?

Hopefully Briere evens that part out and they actually turn out to be a good combination together. Briere doesn't seem like the type to me that will be easily brainwashed into Tort's way of thinking.

Someone who is posting repeatedly in disagreement to someone not based on the content of the post made but rather on who made the post. Is a troll.

No I'm rarely rude and really the only time I'm rude is when others are rude to me. Yes you were rude in our conversation on Cates but I didn't care. I don't lead with being combative either but respond the same as you do. For example when you posted I was out of line with no basis for it. You're out of line with you entire post here.

You're not fully correct. The two posters that I have been going back and forth with are mostly here to talk Flyers hockey but haven't been with me. Both have been personal and instead of debating and attacking my opinion. Attacked me instead. Peter Richards has literally been trolling me for years.
My hope is that it has been worked out with them and we can be more cordial. We'll see over time. I understand that my posting style, which is not rude. Of a confident and highly knowledgeable poster can rub people the wrong way. I'm also stubborn and argumentative. I'm well aware of that but it is not rude to disagree with someone. It is not rude to tell it like it is.

One thing that I'll note. I have never made a post to someone in the tone and manner in which you just did. Or that others have done. I just don't take it that seriously. There are some that I don't care to engage with so I act like an adult and I don't interact with them. I exercise that ability rather than belittle myself as you just did in my opinion.

Well, thanks. 😊 I believe age has helped me in that regard. I feel like Torts may be a bit like that also so when he has said some things, lately about changing player personnel for next season, I try to give him the benefit of doubt or questioning I may have. I want to see what the roster looks like in September before I say anything either way on it.

I was watching in amazement (slight horror) that we might finish the game with single digit shots-on-goal, but we regroup a bit in third and managed to keep me from looking to see if that was some sort of “record” fewest shots in a game for one team.

seems like every year for the past 10 we have set a new franchise record for something bad. losses in a row, fewest shots, fewest goals in a season, fewest wins. now we wait for the rebuild.

I haven’t checked to news yet today. Anything new with the front office, recalls, or Flyers in general discussed?

I’m going to have to check the Phantoms schedule. I really hope they make the playoffs.
