It's not like a very talented Florida team has done much either under Maurice. The Jets have had a very talented team of players for the past 4-5 years which were suppressed by below-average coaching. This falls on mgmt to correct this situation ASAP or they will begin to lose their talent in a hurry as contracts come up for renewal. I think Bowness should have been fired at least 10 games ago and bring in someone who better recognizes where the strengths of each player lies , and then look for ways to get the most out of those strengths rather than suppressing them. Bowness in particular has done a terrible job of this in the back half of the season.

Its time for mgmt to be very proactive in fixing this situation fast.

BTW...all this being said I do think that the Jets beat Detroit tonight and that you'll see both Scheif and Connor score goals.

Finally a well-deserved win for a hard-working Jets team. Refreshing !

A horrible high-sticking penalty call on Pettersson last night late in the Calgary game cost the Jets two points in the gap in standings. Canucks should have won that game otherwise.

Check out last night's hilites.....the Wheeler goal.....

A) You scored your 1st goal in in 6 + weeks.
B) You scored a crucial goal in a must win game.
C) You converted a great pass by Ehlers.

COULD YOU AT LEAST SHOW SOME ENTHUSIASM ??

Basically outplayed by the Flames all game, I think the Canucks had 3 shots in the final period. That’s not going to win you too many games. I think the real threat is the Preds, I wouldn’t worry about the Flames.

Sidestepping a horrible penalty call that led to the tying goal. Yes outplayed but the scoreboard is what counts. Marky was a sieve.

Good call last game - what's your prediction for tonight?

Jets vs Devils?

NJ is a very good team with a ton of young and fast talent. This game could go either way but I'm going to go with the Jets again tonight only because it's the Devils 3rd game in 4 nights. Furthermore, while the Devs are still in the hunt for top spot in the division I believe the Jets want this win more. Devils are the better team but going with the Jets by 1.

I think the guy who comes up with a good game tonight will be Dubois. Also nice to have Morrissey back in action.

I think the Flames are the biggest threat because they have a super easy schedule going forward. That terrible call by the linesman that led to the Flame's comeback win may end up haunting Jets fans at the end of the season. Bottom line is that Wednesday now becomes an epic game and a MUST win for the Jets. Let's also hope that when the Flames play Nashville it doesn't go into OT. Every point matters now.

3-2 Jets would work for me!

KC with his second of the game the OT winner?

Jets need to come with their work boots on now though - there will soon be no tomorrows!

Another decisive win ! What would be a real shame is to see the Jets finally getting their game together only to somehow miss out on the playoffs by a point or so.

The bottom line is even though they do have the tie-breaker advantage, they need to beat the Flames on Wednesday. For the Flames, it will be their third game in four nights and the Jets will be well-rested waiting at home. No excuses really but stranger things have happened.

Time for Bowness to spend a lot of time working on that PP and getting a LOT more movement going .

As a side note, did anyone notice the NJ system for getting the puck up the ice on the PP. They send a guy to the side boards ( either side) near center ice , who then takes a pass and then relays it back to the trailers. I hope Bones was paying attention there. as its a better system than just dropping it back and then freezing yourself in the process. More options.

Nashville ( currently losing by 3 goals in the 3rd period) is now essentially out of the picture.

If Jets beat the Flames then I'd assume that one more win might get them in , two is a lock. If the Flames beat the Jets then I'd assume with Calgary's easy schedule that the Jets would need to win all 4 remaining games ( they play the Avs and Wild on the road ) so its very unlikely they would be able to pull this off.

Only one scenario here for the Jets. Beat Calgary on Wednesday !

On second calculation, I guess this is essentially untrue.

The Predators still have 5 games remaining they could get to 96 pts.

However they have a real tough schedule going forward - and having traded away NN, Granlund, Jeannot and Ekholm - and with Johanson and Josi injured, don't like their chances.

There is blood in the water, opportunity tonight, load for bear. Keep in mind that it is a wounded bear we are hunting. I am looking for a Jets team with thier ears pinned back and playing hard hockey from the drop of the puck. Game on.

Helly gets the start tonight - win this one then Rittich can get a couple starts over the last 4 games. Just win this one first.

Jets were outhustled, outmuscled, and outplayed in virtually every aspect of the game. Full credit to the Flames for having that much energy in their 3rd game in 4 nights.

Total goals for in the Western Conference:

1) Oilers 309
2) Kraken 272
3) Stars 267
4) Kings 267
5) Canucks 262
6) Knights 259
7) Avalanche 256
8) Blues 255
9) Flames 253
10) Jets 234
11) Wild 232
12) Sharks 226
13) Preds 216
14) Coyotes 216
15) Ducks 195
16) Hawks 190

The Jets are 10th in scoring and don't have much more then the Sharks who are the 4th worst team in the league. Really need some more guys who can put the puck in the frigging net! Both PP units need work too!

That’s how I saw it. I am over being and am just really disappointed that this team doesn’t have the ability to play a playoff style, right checking game. We lost it in the second when they started winning all the physical play. 88&44 got destroyed netfront resulting in thier second goal.
The second line is slick but with no ability to play down low - maybe if wheeler could roll back a few years, stop giving away the puck and win some board battles. No complaints about lines 3&4, they did their job. Lines one and two just don’t have the goods to get greasy goals. If the clean pass isn’t available they are ineffective. Perfetti won’t help that, 55 can go, and one of Connor and Ehlers- for appropriate value of course, not a fire sale.

Yea, out-hustled and out-muscled - very disappointing!

We were the well rested team, they weren't. If you can't get fired up for those type of games, not sure you ever will. But playoff hopes are still alive.

Some players came to play, others appeared to have zero interest in playoffs. Sad!

Totally agree. I moved a week ago….. and do not have cable if u can believe it (hasn’t been hooked up yet)…… so I have been listening to the games on CJOB / 97.5

So, I think if I was actually watching vs listening, I would want to throw a chair through the TV….

But agree, 55 and Ehlers would be my pick to go. Yes, Yes, Ehlers is a statistical darling, but the team should be able to make some hay with his remaining contract @ 2 more years at 6 mill.

Time to move on from this lack lustre core of Wheeler, Scheif, and whoever else (80?) can get traded for value. I am keeping Connor as you are going to need some points come post Scheif and put some fans in the seats.

Don't worry, we still got Adam Lowry. He finally made it to 30 points this year, who knows maybe next year when he's our first line center he might get 40.
