He has 38 points in 72 games. Not terrible but not great. He’ll need to take bigger steps next season. The linemates complaint is a none issue. I think everyone has played with everyone at some point this season. He especially so with Tippett and a lot of time with JvR.

When you started the year with plugs like zac attack and No Trade Nicky D and are chastised for not putting up points linemates matter a ton

And right on cue the flyers go on a draft position crushing win streak. So predictable. Where was this level of play when they had enough time to make a serious run at the playoffs? This team is beyond frustrating! 😠😡🤬

That was a ridiculous coaching blunder by Tortorella. One of many.

they were always going to finish ahead of the Habs and Yotes, stay in 7th slot and see what happens

I said coming into the season, if Frost and Tippett broke 40 points, on this team, it would be a very good season. It appears both will, hats off to them.

Now a step forward, they both need to break 50 next season

side- Allison, that guy needs a goal, Frost could have had 2-3 more points if Allison could close

- wcorvette

Frost has played well enough this season and made enough plays to easily have 50 points so far.

Your read on what Torts is thinking is laughable and yes, it was your opinion that Frost would not be a Flyer next season. Just like it was your opinion that Frost is an AHL player.

This is following the familiar course with your posting. We will soon reach the phase where you praise Frost as if you knew it all along. Followed by your chastising anyone who criticizes Frost.

I want Tippett to score 30 goals next season. He has the skill to do it. I think Frost should get 50-60 points next year. That is assuming he gets more PP time and plays with other talented folks.

but linemates are an issue, for all on this team, unless you were Cates and put with 1st/2nd line talent
- wcorvette

Who are the first and second line talent on this team? Name Cates line mates because I’ve seen a shuffling of cards this season

Torts, as much as he can be impressed seemed to acknowledge the progress with Frost and I took his comments about "others" as him hearing Frost was progressing the last 2 years, not fast enough but progressing". It feels like Torts is now seeing it.

Frost progress really is good for the Flyers, not to much where his next contract will be a big risk. We should see a bridge contract for 2 years at a very reasonable cap hit.

When at this point has Frost played on a line with MacEwen and Nick D? Someone please let me know.

I think we are watching the last few games of Provy's Flyers career. With the team in rebuild mode and the glut of left sided Dmen, extending Provy in a few years makes little sense.

When did this happen and for how long?

I’m sorry but I’m not buying any of this. It’s a 82 game schedule and in my opinion our most consistent wingers have been Konency and Tippett. Frost has seen a lot of Tippett this season and Konency was with Hayes the month and half of the season.

This is combination of the kinds of players that Tortorella favors. Which is part of what makes him an archaic coach and his schizophrenic attempt at motivating and pushing the player. He ignorantly fails to realize that most young players just need steady coaching, positive reinforcement and an opportunity to succeed.

I believe that Provorov is going to be moved. There is a flip side to that though. Unless some other move is made to compensate. They run the risk of doing what they did to Provrov to other young players. Such as York.

Ok…

A couple of issues with what I’m reading. First Zac MacEwen started the season in the minors and when he did get called up, he produced reasonably well.

Second. Why is it an issue that Frost get talent to play with but if Provorov doesn’t have a defensive partner for the majority of his career, all Provorov’s issues are just on him?

He started the year playing with plugs. How does one produce when playing with stiffs like that? Do you not think that has affected his point totals for the year?

Frost's first 15-20 games were spent with the lower end wingers. He played with Laczynski, ND, MacEwen and Willman at the start of the season. Eventually he played with Farabee (just back from injury) and JVR. After about 20ish games he started to play with Tippett pretty consistently. That's when the points really started to happen.

Frost had 6 points in his first 27 games. Since he has 32 points in 45 games. .71 ppg clip or a 58 point pace. Still needs to continue to improve for sure. But the Flyers need to continue to use him in a role that is advantageous to his skillset.

I agree, I was reviewing the UFA list for Dmen. I would not be shocked to see them sign a Niskanen type vet thru free agency or trade if Provy is moved. Basically, not a Dumba level UFA Dman in regards to cap hit and term.

Yeah, well, two years ago Frost missed the entire season due a shoulder injury (suffered in the second period of his second game) that required surgery. He also had a bout with Covid while rehabbing. Year one was a lost year. Year two was Lappy and then Mike Yeo getting Frost caught up -- he finished 2021-22 about where he would likely have been at the end of 2020-21 had it been a healthy year and he hadn't missed so much time due to the injury and Covid. Now, this season, Rocky Thompson (who is the one who actually works, hands-on, with the forwards) more so than Torts is the one who got Frost caught up the rest of the way. Some credit also goes to Danny Briere who did some one-on-one work with Frost in the training camp environment before focusing on front office work. Danny was encouraging. Yeo was tough-love but encouraging with positive feedback and belief in the player. Rocky similar to Yeo in the critique-encouragement style.

Torts' method, and it's not wrong, just different is to continually raise the bar and say Frost hasn't reached it. That's OK. It's working.

But I do wish he'd acknowledge that Frost leads the team in scoring since New Year's, is tied for second in scoring on the team over the last 47 games (two more points than Tippett, whose offensive growth gets praised six ways to Sunday) and, all year since camp, has really been working hard to push himself out of his comfort zone in assorted ways. It's not just a recent thing.
