Meh, not really.
Not when you compare them to canuck, Bruin, habs, Philly, flames, islander, or sens fans.
Imo

- Fakepartofme

the fanbase with the most #69 jerseys is the worst. and this is EDM by a landslide

One thing I have to agree with you on... I know a few Bruins' fans out here... Yeah, ten times as worse.

I think the Rangers one is probably the most surprising thing about this infogram

In Round 1? No. By the time the Oilers have gone through LA, Vegas and Colorado the team they have facing Boston or Toronto or Tampa or Carolina after they've been going through each other and maybe the Islanders or Rangers . . .the team that makes the cup final from the East is going to be pretty beaten down. I think that's why the odds get so even.
- Monkeypunk

The beaten down thing is a load of crap.

Every team is going to be beaten down.

Its not like Boston players are going to be RKOing everybody.

the larger the fanbase, the more annoying fans you will find, it's just normal. Doesn't mean there are not people with whom you can have fun chatting with or having an intelligent discussion with

RKO?! They could be Stone Cold stunning everybody, or Rock-bottoming, maybe tombstoning followed by Batista-bombing. Could even pedigree everyone or give them all the People's elbow.

Don't be so close minded.

I'm really hoping the Senators make the playoffs... and line up against the Bruins. A young team with nothing to lose, some high end talent and a few douche bags on the roster.

and then there's the Bettman angle ... no way Bettman would want the Sens to be humiliated with the upcoming sale.... so no preferential officiating for the Bruins.

yes that is still a thing.

It's not just hitting - it's the intensity, mental awareness and actual athletic physicality required in these games. The Islanders hit more than Carolina, but Carolina's constant pressure is both physically taxing for them and for the opposition. There are miles and miles being skated - and it's hard moments. In a lot of ways you can consider it akin to pitching with the bases empty vs the bases loaded. Stressful high intensity situations are more draining. That said, the hits do take a toll - and I'm not sure you or I are in a position to call it a load of crap when hundreds of former NHLers have said that it isn't.

Heard a random stat. Can't remember it exactly.

the last 8 or 10 teams who swept their opponent and faced a team that went 7 games have lost 8 of the 9 times.

Being fresh doesn't mean poop. In fact I would argue going from Boston and TB to an Edmonton would be a breeze.

All playoff games are intense.

And good, I hope they face teams that keep them mentally engaged.

exactly and teams adapt to their opponent, look when the Habs faced the Leafs, TO got out strong but MTL adapted and at the end the better team won, which is usually the case.

Yes and the proof is in the standings the next year.

The NJD comparisons non MTL fans were saying were 100% correct

with Weber and Price being done, perfect timing to rebuild with half the team being injured the past 2yrs

There is never a perfect time to rebuild.

Being a fan of a rebuilding team blows, I hope it doesn't happen to us for a long time.

Anyone seen Nylander or Bunting lately... I have a slim lead in a hockey pool (despite taking Huberdeau in the 2nd round) and the disappearing act from those two isn't helping me.

My friend . . . I feel like at 50 the term "best friend" is silly, but he was my best man at my wedding, and I likewise at his wedding . . is an Oiler fan. If we meet in the Stanley Cup Finals, we won't be able to talk for 2 weeks. He was unbearable last year after the Oilers beat the Kings and we lost to the Lightning. He only got worse after they beat the Flames.

Although I'll admit that I am conflicted. If the Leafs aren't playing, I'd like the Oilers to do well, but at the same time he is pretty insufferable, so I'm also super cool when they lose.

- Monkeypunk

One of my good friends is an Oilers fan. He's not necessarily insufferable, but he can get close to it. He is the only person I know that hates the Leafs more than he loves his own team. Everything bad in the NHL can be traced back to the Leafs somehow, like 6 degrees of separation poop.

He was steaming when Matthews was nominated and won the Hart last year. Claimed that the Toronto and East Coast media influenced it all - as witnessed by all the previous Hart Trophies won by Leafs in recent years..........
He didn't have an answer for why he won the Lindsay too..........

Yep. It's why they put in extra cardio and weight training after games. Conditioning themselves to go longer than the games do to try and make it easier to make it through them.

It's a very difficult way to play and doesn't really give them anything to elevate to once the playoffs start, but it's damned effective, especially in back-to-back situations.

I remember in 09 Carolina made it to the east final after series' vs the Devils and Bruins. Those 7 games vs Boston were a war. By the time they got to face Pittburgh in the Conference finals they had nothing left and the Pens just skated circles around them. The tank was empty.
