Let's see if he continues to shy away from contact in the playoffs like when he played against Ovi. Tarasenko might be able to get that going. - JRR1285

The first play was awful, how do you not take the hit to make a play, especially in the playoffs. The second one isn't bad at all, he just side stepped to avoid the hit, happens all the time. |

Jack Hughes is arguably the best player in the Eastern Conference already, but, we got a pretty good #1 center of our own - jimbro83
I have not seen him a ton but the numbers are definitely there.
How is he defensively? |

He might be the funniest player to observe, unintentionally. |

Certainly not discounting home ice, but I'd settle for not having "disaster" periods. Where they are pinned in their own zone and fail generate almost anything in the offensive zone. My opinion, start with that. Then worry about the matchups. - tomburton99
Either playing New Jersey or the Icelanders on the road feels like a home game to the rangers with all the fans that attend, unless they pull a Carolina and try to keep opposing fans from attending. |

Do you think their young core/prospects (L. Hughes Nemec J Hughes Mercer etc) is better than the Rangers (Laf Kakko Chytil Othmann Schneider etc)? - nyrangers9479
Their players 25 and under are currently way better than the rangers 25 and under. Fox is the only one on Hughes level compared to his position. The current overall rosters are very close. The Devils have a brighter future unless kakko/Laf can do what Nico/Hughes are doing now. |

They insist that no one is allowed to make more than Hughes but just because they say it doesn't necessarily make it so |

They have to qualify him at 10 million to keep him. |

Unless they agree to a longer term contract. If he has a bad playoffs you think they let him walk? |

No chance. They gave up so much for him. |

Did they really though? They didnt lose any of their top prospects or significant young starters. |

seems like they'll let Ryan Graves and Damon Severson walk and replace them with Nemec and Luke Hughes

I mean, they essentially gave up 3 1st and some B prospects. They gave up their 2020 1st round pick, then 23 and 24 1sts. |

Really curious to see how Hughes holds up/plays in playoff round.

Hughes is small and injury prone. Have to hit him early and often the first 2 games of the series and soften him up/make him uncomfortable out there. I’m in no way saying dirty, I’m just saying every opportunity you get to hit him, you take it. |

I'm sure teams try to be physical w/ Hughes in regular season, but the intensity, gamesmanship, strategy, and competitvenss, are at a whole different level in playoffs. Going to be interesting how he handles it...Same w/ the entire core of Devils....including inexperienced goalies. Not many teams can find success in first year of playoffs after a long drought. Usually take steps forward each consecutive playoffs....I.e. Tampa, Colorado...sorry Toronto |
