LMAO. it funny how claims go over the years if you pay attention. Same people that defended myers hockey iq bash risto. same supported ghost hate tda. people want to build assets but over value plug in players and the list goes on and on. - Peter Richards
Idk, I kind of think some bash Myers and support Risto... and a ton bash Ghost and I don't think Ghost is defended as much as people pointing out all the transactions that went from sending Ghost away only to eventually acquiring a similar player.

I think I was one who said “don’t be surprised if we see him” and frankly I’m a little surprised he hasn’t played, I had heard Torts is “surprisingly” high on him. I guess we didn’t have enough injuries lol - black_francis

“Our number one goal for the Flyers will be to consistently compete for the Stanley Cup. It is going to be a process that will take time to get on that path, but I’m confident we are headed in the right direction with Danny Briere as interim GM, Coach [John] Tortorella, and our hiring of a President of Hockey Operations soon. Our leadership team will be fully focused to deliver on this for our fans while also continuing to make the sports complex the best location for sports and entertainment in the nation.”
Is this just another way of saying maximizing resources and spending to the cap every year? |

Hockey ops hire will probably shed some light on the direction. Will it be an outside hire or the old guard? Saying the right things, but we’ve seen that before |

bold is saying the same thing. we didn't get rid of ghost to get tda. tda was brought in when no hope remained of ellis returning. tda was a stretch. but as you mentioned similar playing styles.

I am going to give Laperriere his due.
He has that team in the playoff hunt and for the most part has been sending players to the big club looking like they know what they are doing. - MBFlyerfan
I actually agree with this! For all the bad mouthing about lappy, the kids that have been called up are looking good. Really good, actually.
I also expect to see both foerester and zamula both in orange and black next season. |

Scott was "trained" for his position by Ed Snider. Maybe it was Ed that persuaded Scott to use the three wise men as advisors? Hopefully Hilferty can see that the team needs a new point of view. |

I'm going to assume it's the "end goal". He followed up in the next sentence saying it's going to be a process that takes time.
Who knows? I'll believe it when I see it. |

We won’t know until we see what he does, ultimately. For the time being, it’s welcome news. |

Yay…..I guess.
Until I see actual concrete evidence that business as usual in the hockey operations dept has actually changed, I’ll take any news with a huge grain of salt. |

Remember when everyone claimed Anismov would be on the roster all year ? 50 games with the Phantoms - ClaudeFather
I don’t remember anyone claiming this. At least not me. He was hurt during training camp. I’m surprised they gave him and kind of deal, including a minor league deal. |

With Scott gone, the new guy could come in a clean house and hire from the outside. Anytime there’s change this high up anything becomes possible. Hopefully the new guy makes the right decisions going forward. - landros 2
I feel like Fletcher was an outside hire, no? |

I liked Myers. I like Risto.
I wanted Ghost gone. I never wanted DeAngelo here.
In fairness to Myers, Myers I felt got defended quite a bit in a Flyers uniform. I heard many say he had a higher up side than Provorov. When he was paired with Moron and Myers made a clear mistake, many blamed Moron. This is what I remember.

Yeah but he was never a Flyer. Clarke, Holmgren, Hextall and now Briere were all Flyers. |

In a sense …yes. But he was brought to the floor by Clarke who gave him his first job as his assistant in FLA. I mean any hire will come at some sort of recommendation from someone still around…but I think after the failures of the last two GMs they should do an exhaustive search for both GM and President. Something this team has never really done. If Danny is the best candidate then he should get the job….but let’s hope they at least put the effort in and get the right people in those chairs. |

I liked Myers…but his over all play fell off a cliff. Risto has had his ups and Downs, but has played with more consistency this year…I’m fine with him in his current state. Ghost had some bad luck with injuries and his play dropped, but I still think the proper coaching and some patience and Ghost could still be here…truth was they were looking for answers and Ghost was perceived as part of the problem. In the end his career probably needed a change but as we see now his play is much better then it was when we shipped him away while having to add pieces. I never understood the TDA signing…not for where this team is.
It’s an opinion board…speak freely. |
