Looks like as a group we found common ground, A TRUE MIRACLE

GENE HART

- wcorvette
Met Gene Hart in Quebec City back in 1992 or 1993 (don't remember). We were staying in the same hotel that the Flyers were staying in. Had a beer with him! Cool guy...one of my friends wanted to get an autograph from him and he said...nah, just have a beer with me ( he had lots of stories). Also met Mike Emrick and Bill Clement the next day at Flyers practice. Both were also very cool and took the time to chat with us for awhile. By the way, QC was a great place to watch a game and there was a great atmosphere in the building the two times that we saw games there. Need a team back there, but Buttman will have none of that! He wants a team in the desert with a 5,000 seat arena.

Ha ha, Coatsey was actually part of the entourage that night, but he was on the other side of the bar yucking it up with some girls from Atlantic City.

Anyone remember when Gene was the "color" and Stu Nahan was play-by-play?

Coatsey thought they were girls but were actually shaven guys. It was also two guys but Coatsey saw four.
True story.

Poulin's 2-men down shorty against the Nordiques is my favorite call probably. "He's going right on in. Score!"

"Goose bump moment"...I was there that night in my Section O Row 12 Seat 6 location. An amazing memory. Like J J Daigneault's goal in the playoffs vs the Oilers.

Good shot on a scoring chance and a sick pass from behind the net. Right on Foerster's stick with an open net. Unfortunately, a Wild player got a stick on the shot. It's hard to see though.

Good to see Sanheim playing like he is capable of last few games. He's been horsepoop most of the year.

Break outs are better, guys have been playing better together, getting to right spots and passes getting there

I’m just being sarcastic. Let me start by saying that I love Ivan Provorov, he’s my guy, I support him but I admit it comes from the player he was his first five seasons on the team. I have no problem with anyone who wants to trade him because his play has jumped off a cliff and you’d prefer the assets the team could receive in return. On the other hand, calling him selfish because he won’t play his off side or calling him holographic because he chooses to stand by his beliefs is a different argument. Until I’ve seen he’s actually a terrible person, he’ll continue to be my favorite current Flyer.

“10 seconds left Orr shoots it down the ice, Parent makes the save. The Flyers are going to win the Stanley Cup, the Flyers are going to win the Stanley Cup, the Flyers WIN the Stanley Cup. The Flyers HAVE WON THE STANLEY CUP!”

That is Gene’s great call in my memory!!
Yep I’m old!!!

He's played all of 6-games here. Remember how solid TDA looked back in October (8 games, 7 points, +3)? Then his true defensive self poked out in November (14gp, 3 pts, -15) and he eventually ended up in the doghouse.

Beware of small sample sizes.

I hear you, but he’s not commanding any term. If we moved out multiple players a one year deal is not a bad option.

So…….

Can’t watch the Flyers game because the goddamn ESPN app isn’t playing the game on their app but their ESPN channel. So I go to the bar here in Michigan, just to find out that Michigan state basketball is on every (frank)in channel!! What’s the point in buying this app, if you’re gonna choose to have games on your channel and not the app!?

Yeah, one of those things you want going into off-season

Flyers controlled first, that could fade, more talented teams tend to take over as game goes on and energy evens out or the flyers play mid level playoff teams well and just can’t keep up with the top 1/3 of league

The key has been the Flyers forecheck. Spending most of the time in the Wild zone. Preventing the Wild from getting the puck behind the Flyers defense and taking advantage of them.

Forecheck, passing, breakouts, and yes best defense is good offense, point being they’re playing together, nice to see. Hope it is more than just a string of games

Exactly. The best way to defend is to spend less time defending. Something Tortorella needs to grasp in today's NHL.
