Poulin's 2-men down shorty against the Nordiques is my favorite call probably. "He's going right on in. Score!"
- mickel25

Gene Hart had so many good calls - a poet and a Flyers fan rolled into one with the mic in front of him. J.J. Daigneault's goal in game 6 of the '87 SCF is what sticks out in my mind.

You believe DeAngelo has been in Torts’ doghouse? I think DeAngelo has gotten way too many chances and opportunities. It’s almost taken the media to call Torts out before changes were made.

Maybe not as deep in the doghouse and for as long as Hayes, but he's definitely visited a few times this season.

I’m just being sarcastic. Let me start by saying that I love Ivan Provorov, he’s my guy, I support him but I admit it comes from the player he was his first five seasons on the team. I have no problem with anyone who wants to trade him because his play has jumped off a cliff and you’d prefer the assets the team could receive in return. On the other hand, calling him selfish because he won’t play his off side or calling him holographic because he chooses to stand by his beliefs is a different argument. Until I’ve seen he’s actually a terrible person, he’ll continue to be my favorite current Flyer.

no issue with Provy, he has played on this poop show for his whole career

His up and down play has been a big part of why this team has been a poop show for most his career.

There has been more good than bad from Provorov over the course of his career. The organization has given him very little favors in terms of support. Even Kimmo Timonen, Eric Desjardins and Chris Pronger all had dead partners.

He's played all of 6-games here. Remember how solid TDA looked back in October (8 games, 7 points, +3)? Then his true defensive self poked out in November (14gp, 3 pts, -15) and he eventually ended up in the doghouse.

Beware of small sample sizes.

My thoughts exactly. McEwen had a stretch of decent games. Get rid of Lemieux. No need for him.

Wasn’t Eric Desjardin’s partner mostly Chris Therien? If so I wouldn’t necessarily call him “dead”.

19-20 was his only strong overall season, IMO.

He's had strong offensive seasons besides that but he was weak defensively in those years. Lately he's been weak on both sides of the puck.

Haha yeah, Mac is another example. Remember him playing in the top-six and on the PP? Good times.

can see that but believe he is not the cause of this sickness called the Flyers, he is a result of the sickness. We all develop habits and tendencies, his have been developed in this shxt show. Sure, he could have been a franchise D and led the way, very few are and he is not, it would have been a miracle if he was.

Game is on the actual ESPN

They are trotting out the old guard tonight I think

- corduroy
ESPN...what an effing joke! What a mistake that was in signing up with them again. They do a terrible job of marketing hockey and they NEVER put games on their regular channels (ESPN and ESPN2). Of course, I guess they need to show women's volleyball and the world series of poker. Should have stayed with NBC. Clowns!

We were lucky enough to be at both of those games. Two of the loudest moments in Spectrum history... When Poulin scored that two men down shorty to move onto the Cup Finals in 1985 and when J.J. scored the go ahead goal in game 6 of the Finals! Those were the days and now you why know we haven't been to a game since the 2012 playoff series against the Pens.

I'm in agreement with you. I think more than anything, the Flyers have created Provorov far more than he is responsible for subpar play. He's had to be the lead defenseman on poor teams pretty much his entire career. I'm not going to chastise him for not being able to raise this team or rise above it. If I was Provorov, I'd probably want out.

“10 seconds left Orr shoots it down the ice, Parent makes the save. The Flyers are going to win the Stanley Cup, the Flyers are going to win the Stanley Cup, the Flyers WIN the Stanley Cup. The Flyers HAVE WON THE STANLEY CUP!”

That is Gene’s great call in my memory!!

not saying he is amazing, was in the league young, involved in a couple trades as teams were gearing for the playoffs, then had a couple injuries. if a few players go out, he could be a cheap vet plug for a couple years while the kids grow. get that it's a small sample size, but has played well and has chemistry with frost so far. ND is the player that may make it tough to swallow or prevent it. maybe he finally figured it out. we are not going anywhere, but also see just a similar vet being signed either way.

small sample size yes. weren't you the one that talked about ghost his first two games in carolina? he hasn't done much since. but small sample size.

I'm in agreement with you. I think the situations and how the Flyers have used Provorov have hard far more to do with what has happened than just the quality of player that Provorov is. If I was him, I'd probably want out.

I remember a game last year where he took 3 undisciplined penalties against the Wild leading to a PP goal in a one goal loss. Unless he’s changed his penalties will be more frustrating than any NAK took.
