Rust been getting a huge pass as everyone rags on dumo and carter. He’s been nowhere near worth $6M

His cap hit is 5.125

Still on pace for 45ish points while shooting at his lowest shooting percentage in like 8 years. If he was scoring at his normal rate he'd likely be around 55 points which is probably going rate/low bargain at 5.125.

For ref, Zucker has 43 in 3 less games with a cap hit of 5.5.

He's definitely snake bitten this season, but he's still producing and it ain't for a lack of trying, he's getting prime chances left and right.

Rust also did indeed get ragged on pretty bad here early in the season when he looked like he was skating in mud.

Pens played really well. We need some D back. Ruh with another awful penalty. Sid trying to drag this team into the playoffs.

ESPN is gawd awful. Listening to Levy all game is like getting punched in the face for 3 hours.

He’s been a step slower all year. Every once and a while he’ll snap out of it. They Need that now.

I wish we had a coach that could make changes based on how players are playing in game.

Other than swapping Rust and Rak.

I think I heard the Pens have the 2nd fewest goals off the rush in the league lol man, that definitely wasn't the case back in 2015-2017 when Sully took over.

I feel asleep in 2nd intermission. Loved their second period. Aw well, sounds like they put up a good fight against the 2nd team in the West on second night of B2B... And at least the Panthers lost again as well. Impressive considering the state of the back end, really.

They're putting together games they can build off of. Even the Habs and Sens games were very f'n strong efforts they just didnt get the result in.

The eye test says he's nowhere near his performance from the past 2-3 years. Not talking about his numbers. Zucker on the other hand has been very noticeable all over the ice. To me Guentzel has had a "different" season for some reason. He's getting back to his best hockey though.

I dunno, I feel like he gets tons of prime opportunities and just can't bury them.

I feel like he's always around the net, getting shots from the dirty areas.

And now the numbers that you don't want to talk about:

His 5v5 shooting percentage is a putrid 6.71 (last few seasons he was went 15%, 10%, 8.5%) and his PP shooting percentage is 8.70 (usually he's at 18% on the PP).

His iXG is 17.85, the highest of his career and his iHDCF is 91(!) which is his career high by over 20 shots from dangerous locations.

If he had buried say 4-5 more goals this season, the complaints likely wouldn't be happening but when you see him get robbed on grade A chance after grade A chance, game after game, that poop sticks out.
