Be thankful you, and I, don’t need an all white day. When the LGBTQ community have all the same rights, are treated by everyone with respect and dignity, there will no longer be any need for Pride Day. - paulr
Well said.
MY born in the city of Chicago family members who fled to the 'burbs because "them people were moving in EVERYWHERE," always said thinks like" I don't know why THEY need a day.
They weren't taking LBGQ+.
It was Color.
It was language. (Why can't they speak English?)
The play it off as "Woke" when people want the truths out there, nowadays.
(The idea that Florida schools are banning books as the internet is available to kids and the pathways to information had exploded is naive...)
When I read yesterday the Blackhawk hierarchy made this decision, and the reason, I bought it. They were protecting members of their native country, and also not putting the player commodity in a position to be disliked by the fanbase.
It made sense.
I guess all of hockey's imported workers get a chance to see how their bosses are shielding them from backlash.
(You saw how Laz ripped Reimer, and his contradictions between the people.)
Personally think I get to rip Reimer, but not so sure Laz had to get this deep in the Hawk booty again. |

Deep down, they are both the same - tell you it's for the good of everyone while the are lining heir own pockets. - powerenforcer
Basically incorrect, and the past sixty years should be the facts that separate them.
The "same" argument just lowers the number of voters.
Look for contradictions in the politicians legislative actions and their real life actions, and if they pass stuff that is the opposite of what they expound as their "beliefs" then judge them and the chasm widens.

Is it hockey time yet?
I think I have no more adds or subtracts to my 2023 7 round mock and will continue to add the player profiles / scouting reports missing with the late 3rd round and continue into the later rounds.
I finally got Lines.com to have the correct 2023 Mock being where it opens if you hit drafts - NHL.

I will not get in a discussion about Democrats or Republicans due solely to the rules of hockeybuzz being too political. Beside, people have views and they MAY get all crazy arguing on the board. - jhawk59
You shouldn't. Defending either group is reprehensible. They're both awful and they both continue to fail this country. It's just been selecting the lesser of 2 evils for as long as I can remember.

People in the LGBTQ+ community are the most authentic and proud people that there are. They have to overcome fear, hatred, phobia, ignorance, laws, trauma, and ridicule just to be themselves. They actually know who they are as people and go for it.
Stop allowing media to teach you about these individuals. Go out to an event and meet some of them, hear their stories, their struggles, and what it is like for them to go about their lives. You will find you have way more in common than you would ever think.
As for trans, get informed. Not by media, but by someone who is trans. Currently the narrative is created for them and those people have no idea what they are talking about. Someone who isn’t trans is never going to accidentally sign up to face the discrimination and hatred they endure.
All these pride nights are for is to create conversations.

Looks like this blog was the gas can to the flame.
I'll mention again....when an owner tells his players to wear a MAGA warm-up jersey, we'll see who here has a consistent position. My guess is very few. |

I think it's fair to question some fan's gut reaction to these sorts of things. I could care less.... what's more important? A non-televised warm up that last...what 17 minutes (help me out here 6628) wearing a rainbow jersey to show unity for the LGBQT community and/or throughout the game, all fans in attendance and watching/listening are made aware? It's important to raise awareness and likely support teammates and fellow NHL players who are likely gay and make them feel comfortable.
To your point, do they have black history month awareness? Do they have anything in January for Asian descent players when it's Chinese New Year? And if a team wanted to roll out a jersey with Biden's or Trump's head plastered on it.... that's their call.
What is going to get old fast, and I haven't checked my twitter is the outrage by media who continue to find anything and everything to pile on this team about. I am sure Powers, Lazerus are having strokes over this. Sure, it's made the airwaves to the all-KNOWING moral compass of MAN in THE Dan Berstein so he can offer his asinine take since his kid played goalie and he's now a hockey god. YET if they rolled out a Christian awareness around Easter or Christmas, how would that be received?
Just over it all. If a guy doesn't want to want to wear a jersey, I could care less. His choice. He can offer his take and then one day maybe a media member stands up for him as they would for say....Seth Jones if he refused to wear a MAGA jersey....which 100% wouldn't happen....and that continues to be the slippery slope of hypocrisy in this country......it's all good and cancel anyone who doesn't fit our narrative, because ONLY 1 side can be right.
I don't know if the Hawks will ever pay enough of a price for the mob to be happy in this town, in the media, or nationally.

Oh and the Hawks ran this by the LGBQT foundations coming to the game and they were ok with the decision.....but of course that doesn't fit the narrative for many right now.
Hawks are 100% the evil empire and any chance to pile on, the mob does. I hope the organization at some point starts banning these media with preconceived narratives and if the Athletic wants access....hire a new writer. Without access to the team, what benefit does a clown like Lazerus offer? None. Sad thing is I used to enjoy Scott Powers takes/articles, but he's getting sucked into the Lazerus vortex with no end in sight. |

Whether it is a choice or not, the argument remains the same. If one doesn’t like, agree with, find attractive, etc what someone else does (choice or not), why should they be made to highlight, promote, whatever said thing? You can be tolerant of something and still not want to be involved with it. And the fact that the workplace is at the head of this makes it that much more complicated.
I guess I’ll restate my earlier point. What do these nights accomplish? It’s no secret that LGBT people exist. I’ll say again, if someone from any of those descriptors scored like Ovi, no one would care and everyone would want them on their team - Chunk
Because tolerance is not the goal. Inclusion is. Those are two very disparate things. |

What city is it hard to be a gay man in America in? Honestly? Where is all this oppression I've missed for the last 30 years? Maybe there are some tough spots in rural Mississippi (and that's kind of prejudicial to assume) but it's pretty normal to be gay in any American metro area. - lacaprup
Basically anywhere you can't get an abortion because generally the same subset of people who are homo and transphobic also seem to hate women.
Still very vocal and very prevalent homophobic groups of people in this country. Again why this discussion is extremely important. |

Who said liberalism is a mental disease?
It is amusing to see the philosophical pretzel that leftists contort themselves into in order to rationalize their capricious beliefs. As Sowell described, leftists have a cosmic vision of the world and they twist reality as needed in order to fit their world view. That is how you get the "women with penis" believers. Not sure what is more astounding, the left's lack of self-awareness or the magnitude of their self-importance.
As a Berkeley grad and resident of San Francisco, I have met many of these types. They are similar to the "Body Snatcher" pod people. They hate independent thinkers and need to cram their propaganda down your throat at every turn.
I applaud the people, like Ivan Provorov, who stand their ground and do not acquiesce to the propaganda. Those are the real heroes.
