Mayfield all over in the o zone
- Upstate_isles

Funny thing about Mayfield is he has deceptive speed and can actually carry the puck. Like Bailey, it seems if he simply had a different frame of mind, he could be a bigger offensive factor

A lot of missed nets. Lane is gonna have them drop and do pushups

I think Brock will get another. They're giving him time and space to shoot

Need even more urgency to close out this game in regulation.

A point is important, but against the worst team in the NHL, there's no excuse for not getting two.

Just a completely careless play that really may cost them.

Mayfield had a chance but rather than trying to clear it, he elected to hold the puck and gave it up.

I told my daughter, 'they'll get a onetimer where it gets tipped by an uncontested player in front of our net'.

Yea that sucked but I guess you gotta take the point especially after being down 2 to start the 3rd

Big picture, you gave up a point to the worst team in the league.
Our defenseman were really poor tonight.
Mayfield on multiple occasions tonight held the puck too long and caused turnovers. The last one cost them the game. Dobson was awful as well.
Just too many mental errors for a must win game against the worst team in hockey

Yup, a point is certainly much better than no points, but they had a chance to put a little more separation between them and the teams chasing them, so it's disappointing. The next 9 games are against better teams.

Angering losses are always a typical time to throw stones but the Horvat, Lee, Fasching line was not particularly good tonight. Fasching made a few plays while Horvat & Lee had a few nice moments of puck possession but they got hemmed in a few times too many.

Most disturbing is once again Horvat's complete lack of productivity. No goals, two assists and a minus six over his last ten games is awful. For the $$ and capital spent, you'd like to see more than just a great faceoff guy

The sense of urgency that was displayed the first 10 or so minutes of the third period was missing the other 50 minutes of the game. That’s that.

It's easy for me to criticize Horvat, sitting on the couch with a beer, but for the most part, I am not seeing much urgency in his game. In fact, dare I say that there are times when he is Baileyesque? Speaking of Bailey, I wouldn't be surprised if he plays tomorrow.........maybe in place of Holmstrom who was pretty invisible tonight.

Agreed. I was going to say when we were down 4-2 that I wouldn't be shocked to see Bailey return.

Prior to the trade, I had seen Horvat play some but hadn't really focused on him. Highlight reels are wonderful but seeing him game to game tells the tale. I have not seen much since Barzal went out. He's awesome on faceoffs, but is bringing very little else at this point. Lane may need to consider matching him up with someone else.

Does a lot of good things out there but yes I'd like to see more goals as well. That line really needs barzal back

Yeah I think you can acknowledge he’s playing a decent game but he needs to start scoring. I say decent because other then face offs to me that’s what I would say his play has been. Especially his last five games though he had a big assist on the tying goal last night. He’s not really pushing the play anymore like he was even after Barzal went out imo. Today would be a perfect time for him to get out of his slump.
