This has been a very tedious season to sit through.

agree

with improved Goaltending I thought we'd see a more consistent team. with a slight uptick in point%

2023 -.906 (10th)
2022 -.900 (21st)

anyways. again..hope its just the long grind of a boring non eventful season

The team doesn't give a poop. Tampa looks just as bad most nights.

Tough to play half a season knowing you have made the playoffs and who your opponent is.

- Aetherial

Tampa has 2 cups with nothing to prove. They know how to get ready. A little different from where the Leafs heads should be at.

just to add to this

and when the Leafs try to step up the physical play, and do the 15 bad things...they end up getting 6 penalties and player C gets tossed out...

And suspended

Only thing tedious for me has been Matthews having a mediocre year for him.
- AdamFrench

Sitting through the last 30 games of this season with TBL locked as our opponent has been tedious.

AM34 has been playing with an injury all season. We can give him a pass, no?

Yup, this is the problem.

The refs will even out the penalties so that it becomes open season on Leafs players, especially in the playoffs.

Shut him down if he's hurt, so not really buying giving him a pass.

Yeah, I'd say this season has been about watching Marner take the next step. That's been exciting.

Nylander has been exciting at times.

And I've enjoyed Samsonov exceeding my expectations.

Other than that, it's just been a death march to get to mid-April.

Yup. I do other things some nights and just tune in in the background for games. The media keeps trying to hype it but it's tough. I mean they are playing for home ice but that shouldn't be the deal breaker for the leafs this year. Can't hang your hat on losing in the first round on not having home ice.

It was fun when marner was chasing the record then it slowed down a bit. But this was expected when most just want to see what they do in playoffs

Do we know for sure he has been injured "all season"?

Also, hes still on pace for 40 goals....so thats good. Just not $11m good?

Well I mean, I wouldn't trade the Mads Man for Matthews let alone the greatest captain and heart and soul warrior in the NHL. Let's be realistic.

Tampa had 2 Cups at the start of the playoffs last year and lost the first game 5-0. The Leafs and Lightning played a very close 7 game series.

Both teams will be “ready” for the start of the playoffs this year. My assessment isn’t based on history but in the two teams. I think TBL has fallen back some this year. Their goal differential has been cut almost in half while the Leafs’ number has dropped a bit. No reason not to expect another good series. I’d give the edge to the Leafs

He's had a few injuries, apparently.

The wrist sometime in preseason and his ribs from the Benn crosscheck.

I have to consistently over-ride my spellcheck function, because it flags the words "Tkachuk" and "leadership" in the same sentence as an error.

The other day, Matthews sat down with The Athletic's Jonas Siegel and revealed that he has battled a hand injury all season, something that Kyle Dubas acknowledge a few weeks ago (not specifying the nature of the injury). "I think my hand and everything has been feeling a lot better, just stronger. So yeah, I'd have to agree with you there. Just shooting it a little bit more fluidly I'd say," Matthews said in response to Siegel's question about shooting the puck harder again.

Matthews admitted that the injury had been bothering him for a long time and he felt that something was off, "I just felt like not completely... like I wasn't able to do exactly what I wanted to at times," said Matthews.
