I'd take one more swipe at it next year. Give the next GM a chance at pulling off a miracle. After that I'd trade anything of value for futures. Including Sid if he's willing.

I agree, it doesn't bother me at all if those guys retire in Pens jersey's or not. Strip it to the bone and get high picks for a few years. Sometimes that doesn't work if you fuk up the draft, but it's the best way to rebuild in a capped league. I'm fully aware it can take 4 or 5 years.....and I'm fine with that.

Yeah, like i said a week or two ago the future isnt guaranteed in any shape or from and that certainly goes for the Pens final roster for opening day next season...there wasn't a single person who posts here, only 3 or 4 weeks ago, that thought we would be without Kap AND McGinn next season haha.

Much rather watch Sid, Geno and Letang in Pens sweaters than endure a 4-5 year rebuild while seeing them on other teams, that 4-5 year rebuild is coming no matter what and I'd rather watch my favorite players on my favorite team before seeing the rebuild.

I'm with ya...and ya never know, a new GM could do a few things that keeps them in the playoff mix next season...if Hex is even fired. If they miss the playoffs I dont see how he isn't, though.

It's still so annoying that Hextall isnt willing to trade draft picks.. but then trades a 2nd and 3rd for Granlund and Kulikov.

Woof.

Time to burn it down Sorry the truth always hurts but get what you can while you can Every day they get a little older and a little less attractive Somewhat like a playboy model At 23 they are almost washed up because every year there is a new supply of 18 years olds waiting to take their place

I didn’t even turn the game on last night. I knew after the weekend we had next to no chance at the playoffs. Last nights lose didn’t even hurt. I have shifted my focus to the offseason. The ownership needs to finally step in and make changes. I’m ok with the GM trying to win now. But I’m also ok with the rebuild starting this offseason. We just need a GM with a real plan and vision.

What channel is the off season on? Haha. I’ll always watch the pens if I’m not engaged in other activities. You guys play too much fantasy sports.

Same here. I watched and suffered through the lean years of Rico Fata and Richard Tarnstrom. I will enjoy the trio as long as they are Pens.

Hahaha, I'll always watch when I can as well. I think things are super interesting right now...a lot of seasons they kinda just comfortably coasted into the playoffs, now they have to scratch and claw. Last night was a hard faught battle with a lot of chances. Entertaining.

What changes do we make for next year?
Dumo walks.
Do they let Jarry Walk? They may want to but what other alternatives are out there?
Can they afford to keep Zucker?

- Amanion

It really all depends on the trade market as well as when the new GM comes on board what his thoughts are. Personally as mentioned by someone else I would definitely ship off some of Hextalls pieces to free up more cap space and be aggressive in FA. I would think about shopping Rust as a shake up move.

I would try to trade Granlund, Petry, Rutta, Desmith (we need a new goalie tandem).

Talent I would be aggressive to pursue Dumba or Klingberg as the second pairing RHD.
I would go aggressively after Bertuzzi. I would try to resign Zucker. If Rust was traded I would go heavy after Kane, Tarasenko, or have Bertuzzi in that role.
I would look to sign Motte, Acciari, Barbashev, Fast, ZAR and/or E Rod to make up our 3rd line.

It's all definitely unrealistic, but who knows? With a new GM maybe they can redo the whole roster and make it work.

I’d rather not see this team make the playoffs. If they sneak in by divine intervention, Boston is going to embarrass this franchise in the national spotlight. Ending the streak will also acknowledge that a rebuild, not a retool is needed. We’re not in a position to fake it until you make it.

Fvck that...No one is doing a full rebuild, not Hex or any new hire, with Sid and Co still playing at the level they are, whether they make it in or not this season.

Fans wishing their team don't make it to the playoffs is baffling to me...especially when you consider the only difference would be a few draft spots in the middle of the 1st round...no lottery chance.

I want to see Sid, Geno and Tanger in the playoffs because that's what they really want and well...if not this season maybe we never see them there again. That's what every player in the league plays for in the regular season...to make the playoffs. Its what every single one of them want.

The difference between making and missing the playoffs could be Hex coming back next year or being replaced by a new GM.

Key word there is "could"...but thats a better reason than thinking a full rebuild is coming if they miss out. Still though, I want what the players want.

Oh I totally agree, you never know. Jesse Marshall on Twitter was wondering if FSG is even paying attention lol so who knows. Hex could be back to butcher another season.

I think I do want them to miss the playoffs to hopefully get hex ousted. I don’t think ownership gives a …., and missing may get their attention, at least for the money lost, if nothing else. I’m sold on the whole “they bought the team for land development” conspiracy. No reason to pay what they did for this team at this stage in the sid & geno era.

What if I want to enjoy Josh Archibald running over a guy twice his size? Or a timely blocked shot? Or a smart defensive play by an older guy? Can I enjoy those too? Or just the Legacy players.

Remember when I was skeptical about grown men who take an interest in a sport that should end at little league owning a hockey team?
