How are we days away from the sweepstakes of the decade? The lottery is 49 days from today?? And this decade included McDavid.
This was an underrated line:

Sweepstakes of the decade implies the last 10 years. And so it clearly isn't.
Or are we assuming "the decade" refers to 2020-2023? In that case, yes, with Lafreniere, Power, and Slafkovsky being drafted at #1, this indeed is the greatest sweepstakes of the decade. The problem is, nobody speaks like this. Like would you say this is the most exciting March Madness tournament of the decade, but then only be referring to the previous 3 years? |

Philly. So Torts can make him a 200 foot player who hits, fights and blocks shots.

I think the kid is great, but he is closer to Lafreniere/Hughes/Hischer than McDavid/McKinnon/Crosby/etc.
I am not much of a Matthews fan, but Matthews didn't have nearly as much hype as Bedard...and Matthews is a universe better than Bedard.
I'm not at all saying Bedard will be a bust, but he is certainly not going to be a generational talent like McDavid,Crosby, or McKinnon...not really close to those guys.

Bettman: "ARIZONA!! GREAT HOCKEY MARKET!"
Philly fans: "Philly!"
Rest of NHL fans: "Anywhere but Philly!"
Seriously, I think the place where he would do the most good for the league would be Nashville or Columbus. They are established markets as far as longevity but have never had that superstar player. It would really put hockey on the map in Columbus. |

Hawks get Bedard, MTL get Fantilli..... - Symba007
I’d love that! Fantilli is also playing with Nazar so if hawks get 2nd pick theres a new Strome DeBrincat duo here |

Love reading all these posts by basement keyboard warriors about how they’re smarter than everyone in hockey and how this kid is gonna be a bust. Clearly the hockey world is on edge for your opinion and most major media outlets are backing up the Brinks truck to pay you for your amazing eye for talent. How many years have you all collectively been NHL scouts again?
Who knew such generational scouting talent roamed the humble hockeybuzz message boards.
Amazing….
That must the carrot at the end of the stick that makes people buy the season ticket… |

Out of the worst 7 teams in the league this year, its got to be either Philly or Montreal for Bedard. Anywhere else and I would pull a Lindros if I were him. |

Not in the F'ing Metro. Good lord, please leave us be. This division is brutal enough as it is. Let him go to SJ or Anaheim. It will also ensure a lot more McJesus/Bedard matchups. |

Best place for Bedard would be with the Canucks. Unfortunately the Canucks are playing their best hockey of the year and are close to being out of the sweepstakes. |
